Most Evoques are powered by a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 240 horsepower, with standard all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic. There are now seven trims for the five-door Evoque, although just three for the Evoque Coupe that has two doors and a more sloping roofline. The uprated 285 horsepower engine is only available on the Autobiography Dynamic model.
The base Evoque comes standard with leather/Dinamica upholstery, aluminum trim, power front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and an 11-speaker Meridian audio system with USB input and Bluetooth, as well as Land Rover's Terrain Response control, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. The Convenience Package adds navigation and keyless entry, while the Climate Comfort pack adds heated front seats and steering wheel, and a windshield de-icer. Satellite and HD radio are also optional.
The Pure Plus adds upgraded upholstery, a power tailgate, 19-inch alloy wheels and a fixed full-length glass roof to make the interior less claustrophobic. Options include 20-inch wheels, the Convenience and Climate packs and a Vision Assist Package that bundles xenon headlights, a surround view monitor and a blind-spot monitoring system.
The Pure Premium bundles many of the available features on the first two trims, such as navigation, xenon lights, blind-spot monitor and surround view camera, along with a massive 825-watt Meridian audio system and full leather trim. Options include the 20-inch wheels, HD and satellite radio and Climate pack, as well as a park assist function.
Prestige adds more upgraded trim in the form of Oxford leather upholstery and a leather-topped dashboard, real wood trim and plusher carpets as well as adaptive park assist, satellite and HD radio and the climate package. Optional is adaptive cruise control with queue assist.
The Dynamic trim adds 20-inch wheels and aluminum trim to go with its sportier appearance. In addition to adaptive cruise control, an optional Black Design pack adds black finishes to the roof and body kit, as well as black-finished 20-inch wheels and a rear spoiler.
Autobiography further increases the plushness of the trim with special 20-inch wheels, special colors and silver exterior trim, and includes all of the Prestige's options.
The new sportiest Evoque includes a more stout 285-horsepower engine, as well as changes to steering and suspension settings, larger brakes and a black roof.
While the Evoque starts off at a reasonable price for its class, common options drive up the sticker quickly. Stray above Pure Premium and you'll venture into more spacious and powerful crossovers -- although the Autobiography Dynamic model presents an interesting performance option.
