Expert Rating

5.0 (Excellent)

Unlike other websites and magazines, our ratings are not based solely on a singular road test, but rather a more encompassing batch of criteria: quality, safety, comfort, performance, fuel economy, reliability history and value. When comparing vehicles using our Rating System, it's important to note that the rating earned by each vehicle correlates only to the models within its class. For example, a compact car cannot be compared to a SUV—They are different vehicles altogether.

You can interpret our ratings in the following way:

5-Star: Outstanding vehicle. Only the most exceptional vehicles achieve this rating.

4-Star: Very Good vehicle. Very good and close to being the best vehicle in its class.

3-Star: Good vehicle. Decent, but not quite the best. Often affordable, but lacking key features found in vehicles of the same class.

2-Star: Below average vehicle. Not recommended, and lacking attributes a car buyer would come to expect for the price.

1-Star: Poor vehicle. Simply does not deserve to be on the road.

2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque OVERVIEW

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque majors on style and class, boasting the detail of a fashionable compact luxury vehicle that still bears a family resemblance to the posher, larger Range Rovers. But because it's also a Land Rover, it has more off-road tricks up its sleeve than most similarly sized crossovers. That might make it the ideal urban vehicle with rural skills.

What's New For 2015

For 2015, the Range Rover Evoque gets two new trim levels. First, the Autobiography editions of the larger Range Rovers now extends to the Evoque, with the trim adding plusher exterior and interior trim over the standard models. Then the new Autobiography Dynamic version turns up the performance wick further with an extra 45 horsepower over the standard 240 horsepower engine, along with steering, suspension and trim. All 2015 Evoques will offer Land Rover's new InControl apps suite for control of in-car features through a smartphone.

Choosing Your Range Rover Evoque

Most Evoques are powered by a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 240 horsepower, with standard all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic. There are now seven trims for the five-door Evoque, although just three for the Evoque Coupe that has two doors and a more sloping roofline. The uprated 285 horsepower engine is only available on the Autobiography Dynamic model.

Pure

The base Evoque comes standard with leather/Dinamica upholstery, aluminum trim, power front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and an 11-speaker Meridian audio system with USB input and Bluetooth, as well as Land Rover's Terrain Response control, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. The Convenience Package adds navigation and keyless entry, while the Climate Comfort pack adds heated front seats and steering wheel, and a windshield de-icer. Satellite and HD radio are also optional.

Pure Plus

The Pure Plus adds upgraded upholstery, a power tailgate, 19-inch alloy wheels and a fixed full-length glass roof to make the interior less claustrophobic. Options include 20-inch wheels, the Convenience and Climate packs and a Vision Assist Package that bundles xenon headlights, a surround view monitor and a blind-spot monitoring system.

Pure Premium

The Pure Premium bundles many of the available features on the first two trims, such as navigation, xenon lights, blind-spot monitor and surround view camera, along with a massive 825-watt Meridian audio system and full leather trim. Options include the 20-inch wheels, HD and satellite radio and Climate pack, as well as a park assist function.

Prestige

Prestige adds more upgraded trim in the form of Oxford leather upholstery and a leather-topped dashboard, real wood trim and plusher carpets as well as adaptive park assist, satellite and HD radio and the climate package. Optional is adaptive cruise control with queue assist.

Dynamic

The Dynamic trim adds 20-inch wheels and aluminum trim to go with its sportier appearance. In addition to adaptive cruise control, an optional Black Design pack adds black finishes to the roof and body kit, as well as black-finished 20-inch wheels and a rear spoiler.

Autobiography

Autobiography further increases the plushness of the trim with special 20-inch wheels, special colors and silver exterior trim, and includes all of the Prestige's options.

Autobiography Dynamic

The new sportiest Evoque includes a more stout 285-horsepower engine, as well as changes to steering and suspension settings, larger brakes and a black roof.

CarsDirect Tip

While the Evoque starts off at a reasonable price for its class, common options drive up the sticker quickly. Stray above Pure Premium and you'll venture into more spacious and powerful crossovers -- although the Autobiography Dynamic model presents an interesting performance option.
