The 2015 Lexus LS 460 stays true to the formula that got the brand started 25 years ago. A quiet, competent luxury sedan, the LS manages to take the stress out of driving and provide an opulent cocoon for five people.
What's New For 2015
For 2015, the LS 460 gets a new multimedia system and the latest Lexus Enform app suite for integration of various features, as well as Enform Remote, which can lock and unlock the car through a smartphone app.
Choosing Your Lexus LS 460
The LS 460 is available primarily in two forms with various option packages. Most buyers will choose the base vehicle, but Lexus also offers the more aggressive F Sport package, with 19-inch wheels, a revised suspension and larger brakes. Both models feature a 4.6-liter V8 engine with up to 386 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is an option. A long-wheelbase model with five inches more space for rear seat passengers is also available.
LS 460
Major options include climate-controlled front seats, four-zone climate control, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert, semi-aniline upholstery and a 19-speaker Mark Levinson audio system. The F Sport Package adds 19-inch BBS wheels, specially tuned adaptive air suspension, sport front seats, a torque-sensing limited slip differential, Alcantara trim and more selectable driving modes.
LS 460 L
The L model gets five inches of length in the wheelbase to give more rear legroom over the short wheelbase model, but equipment levels are largely the same. In addition to options such as semi-aniline upholstery and Mark Levinson audio, the L model also offers power rear sunshades, a rear seat air purifier, audio and climate controls mounted in the rear-seat armrest, a cool box and power-adjustable rear seats with an ottoman function.
LS 460 L AWD
The long-wheelbase AWD model is equipped similarly to the short wheelbase car. While it isn't available with the F Sport Package, it does offer the rear seat comfort features of the rear-wheel drive L.
The F Sport doesn't make the LS a luxury sport sedan in the same vein as a Jaguar XJR or Maserati Quattroporte, so it's best to stick to the standard suspension to preserve the isolation that the Lexus does best. Options, unfortunately, are lumped into expensive packages.
