If you're interested in a luxury sedan that's more socially acceptable because it uses less fuel, then Lincoln would like to lure you in with the MKZ Hybrid. Beyond its rakish styling and impressive 40 mpg combined fuel economy rating, the MKZ Hybrid offers a pragmatic reason for buying: it doesn't cost any more than the gas version of the MKZ. It may just be the most sensible hybrid on the market.
What's New for 2015
For 2015, the MKZ Hybrid offers an embedded modem with 3G connectivity, as well as a few new colors.
Choosing Your Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
All MKZ Hybrids are front-wheel drive with a 2-liter four-cylinder and 70kW electric motor producing a net output of 188 horsepower, going through a CVT transmission. Then you just have the three trims to choose from.
Premiere
The base MKZ Hybrid comes loaded with equipment, such as heated front seats, a 10-way power driver's seat with memory settings, backup camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, split-folding rear seat and the MyLincoln Touch system with voice recognition, USB input and iPod integration.
Select
Select steps things up with a wood-trimmed steering wheel, HD radio, leather upholstery, power-folding side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power adjustable steering wheel and interior ambient lighting. Options include a power trunk lid and a moonroof -- either a single-pane version or the $2,995 panoramic roof that incorporates a sliding glass panel that covers the entire roof, one of the MKZ Hybrid's other main attractions. A strong THX audio system is also available. The Technology Package incorporates adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, active parking and a collision warning system.
Reserve
The top trim Reserve adds a navigation system, blind-spot warning, heated rear seats and steering wheel, power trunk lid and an embedded modem. Nineteen-inch wheels are available, as is the Technology Package, THX audio and multi-contour active front seats.
Select gets most of the luxury and tech items that really set the MKZ Hybrid apart from the other luxury sedans on the market -- be sure to splurge for the big sliding glass roof. This makes the Lincoln feel like a fuel efficient sedan that lets you have your luxury and eat your fuel savings, too.
