Choosing Your Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
At the heart of the C63 AMG lies a 6.2-liter V8 that develops 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 60 mph happens in about 4.4 seconds. As if that's not fast enough, you can specify the Edition 507 package, which bumps horsepower and torque to 507 and 450 respectively, enabling you to do the 0-60 dash in 4 seconds flat and top out at 174 mph. The AMG also gets a specially calibrated seven-speed automatic transmission and an adaptive sport-tuned suspension. Rounding out the upgrades are performance brakes and tires, 18-inch AMG wheels, leather sport seats (or no-cost premium vinyl) and sporty trim throughout.
Other equipment is shared with the standard C-Class coupe, which means you get a boatload of standard features, including a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats with driver memory, aluminum or wood interior trim, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, automatic wipers, a collision mitigation system with automatic braking and a driver alertness monitor.
- The available Multimedia package gets you a hard drive-based navigation system and a rearview camera, plus digital audio storage, an SD card reader, real-time traffic and weather data, and DVD-playing capability.
- The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist and blind spot monitoring with assist. An automated parking system is available as standalone option.
Beyond all that, you can select from a handful of individual features such as keyless access, a limited-slip rear differential and carbon fiber interior trim.
The 507 Edition package certainly enhances performance and includes appearance items that make the AMG more memorable. But at $9,750, it's best left to collectors and competitive drivers.
