Whether you choose the sedan or wagon, the E63AMG comes loaded with performance-spec hardware, not the least of which is a hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 550 horsepower. You also get an adjustable sport suspension, a specially tuned seven-speed automatic transmission, upgraded steering and brakes, and specific AMG trim throughout. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is included in the base price.
The E63 AMG carries an array of features that cost extra on lesser E-Class models. That means you get standard goodies like automated parking assist, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound system, navigation with audio storage, leather sport seats with driver massage, and adaptive full LED headlamps. In a charming homage to family trucksters of the past, the wagon's cargo area features a fold-up rear-facing seat for two passengers.
The S Model package, which is standard on the wagon, increases engine output to 577 horsepower and adds a limited-slip rear differential, unique wheels and red brake calipers. Expect any model to go from zero to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds.
The available Lane Tracking package comes with blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assist. Those features are also part of the Driver Assistance package, which further adds adaptive cruise control with steering assist, cross-traffic assist, pedestrian detection and a collision mitigation system. You can get various carbon fiber body components by ordering the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber package, and gloss black exterior trim with the AMG Night package.
Among the handful of individual options are a surround-view camera system, a carbon fiber engine cover and carbon-ceramic brakes.
The E63 AMG wagon wears the honor of fastest seven-passenger vehicle on the planet. That, combined with its standard S trim, makes it even more compelling than the sedan in our view.
