The S E-Hybrid is powered by 3-liter supercharged V6 engine and electric motor that together deliver 416 horsepower. All-wheel drive comes standard as does an eight-speed automatic transmission. On a full charge, the Cayenne operates on electricity alone for about 20 miles. After that, it runs on a mix of gasoline and electricity just like any other hybrid. Expect about 24 mpg in combined driving once the charge runs out. It takes 2.7 hours to fully recharge the battery pack on a 240-volt outlet, or just 1.3 hours with the optional high-capacity charger. To assure the S E-Hybrid handles likes a proper Porsche, every model gets adaptive suspension dampers, speed-sensitive power steering and 19-inch wheels (20s and 21s are available).
Other standard equipment includes a navigation system, leather upholstery, driver memory settings, a sunroof, a power tailgate, automatic wipers, a heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth phone and audio, and a 10-speaker sound system with HD radio. The exterior receives xenon headlamps and LED running lights and taillamps. The available Infotainment package add a premium Bose surround-sound system with satellite radio, real-time traffic and weather data, and a suite of Internet-based information services.
The Premium package tacks on heated and ventilated front seats with memory, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, a rearview camera, auto-dimming mirrors and ambient interior lighting. A Plus version of the same throws in even more goodies like heated rear seats, LED headlamps, keyless ignition, power rear sunshades and blind spot monitoring.
The contents of the packages, along with dozens of other features and upgrades, are available separately on the mile-long option list. To avoid spending thousands more than you intended (or losing your mind), we recommend sticking with the pre-fab packages.
