The Toyota Prius Plug-In offers those who enjoy the standard Prius the joy of more miles on electric propulsion. Thanks to a larger battery, the Prius Plug-In can travel up to 11 miles on battery power before the traditional concert of its Hybrid Synergy Drive kicks in.
What's New for 2015
The Prius Plug-In is basically unchanged for 2015.
Choosing your Toyota Prius Plug-In
The Plug-In variant is based on the mid-level Prius Three, and the major decision revolves around whether to take the $5,000 jump to the Advanced trim level. Like other top-level Prius trims, it adds leatherette seats and JBL audio, as well as opening up the options sheet to some technology toys.
Advanced has a lot of features, but it's a steep price compared to other plug-ins that have greater range. Stick with the base model, however, and the Prius Plug-In makes more sense.
