Buick's premium midsize sedan, the Regal takes a sensible approach to luxury motoring. You'll find plenty of standard creature comforts and a robust selection of mechanical upgrades, all priced within the realm of less distinguished vehicles.
What's New for 2016
A non-turbo four-cylinder now serves as the base engine. The Regal also receives mild equipment updates, including Apple CarPlay capability. The hybrid-like eAssist engine option has been dropped.
Choosing Your Buick Regal
The front-drive Regal starts out with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower. However, most models are powered by a turbocharged 2-liter four cylinder with 259 horsepower, far more appropriate output for this class. A six-speed automatic transmission is used with both engines, and the 2-liter can be paired with all-wheel drive. Surprisingly, a six-speed manual transmission is available on top-trim models with front-wheel drive.
The Regal is available in four trim levels:
Individual options for all Regals include a sunroof, chrome wheels, and ambient interior lighting.
The 1SV's engine is weak for this class and doesn't do justice to the rest of the car. We recommend starting with at least the 1SL, although the Premium II offers the best balance of luxury and value in our view.
