Thanks to last year’s complete redesign, the 200 now offers a serious entry in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment. Featuring striking design, respectable fuel figures and fun in the form of an optional V6, the 200 has become a viable choice even when placed alongside perennial favorites like the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord.
What's New for 2016
Being one year out from a complete redesign, changes to the 2016 Chrysler 200 are minimal but include minor changes to the front fascia, shape of the taillights and interior colors.
Choosing Your Chrysler 200
The standard engine in all 200 models is a 2.4-liter inline-four that produces 184-horsepower and offers an estimated 23 mpg city/ 36 mpg highway. Should you choose to move above the LX level you will have the option to upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 that puts 295-horsepower under your right foot. The V6 returns an estimated 19/32mpg. Both engines are mated to Chrysler's excellent nine-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to trim levels for the 200, there is a wider gap than usual between the LX and the C in terms of equipment and amenities. We recommend upgrading to the S or C to experience the 200 as it was meant to be experienced. We also suggest considering the SafetyTec package as it adds a host of excellent safety features at a very reasonable price.
