Lincoln's seven-passenger crossover is probably best known for its distinctive styling, but its high content for the money is what really matters to buyers. The MKT also delivers all of the smoothness and quiet you expect in a passenger-oriented luxury vehicle.
What's New for 2016
The MKT receives a new infotainment interface known as Sync 3.
Choosing Your Lincoln MKT
The MKT offers seating for seven across three rows in its plush cabin, plus 18 cubic feet of cargo space. With the back rows folded, you're looking at 76 cubic feet, above average for this class.
The standard 3.7-liter V6 engine develops 303 horsepower and comes with front-wheel drive only. The optional turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 (dubbed EcoBoost) produces 365 horsepower and comes exclusively with all-wheel drive, an adaptive suspension system, and selectable driving modes. A six-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles is used with both engines.
The MKT is offered in two very well-equipped trim levels that differ in engine and available equipment:
MKT (base)
Gets the 3.7-liter V6 and an abundance of features, including leather upholstery, wood interior trim, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, driver memory, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control, remote start, a power liftgate, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors. The 10-speaker sound system features satellite radio and parental controls. The only option for the base MKT is second-row seatbelt airbags.
EcoBoost
Carries the more powerful EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive. The available Elite package tacks on a power-folding third row, navigation, a heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 14-speaker sound system includes HD radio and a six-year subscription to satellite traffic and weather data. Models so equipped are eligible for a Technology package with advanced safety technology like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and an automated parking system.
Several high-end standalone options are available on the Ecoboost, including second-row captain's chairs (heated and ventilated), a rear console with a refrigerated compartment, and a rear video entertainment system.
MKT buyers heavily prefer the EcoBoost engine, and we can certainly see why. Besides giving you all-wheel drive and a more composed suspension, the EcoBoost transforms the MKT into one swift luxury cruiser.
