Nissan continues to challenge the Big Three’s dominance of the commercial vehicle market in the U.S. with the NV2500. Available in three trims and your choice of two roof heights, the NV2500 offers an affordable and versatile way to haul cargo. So, if you’re looking for a large commercial van with plenty of room and interior flexibility, then the NV2500 might be worth your consideration.

What's New for 2016

The NV2500 sees minor changes for 2016. Supplemental front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags are now standard.

Choosing Your Nissan NV2500 HD

A 4-liter V6 engine with 261 horsepower is the standard engine in all three trim levels, though there is also an optional 317-horsepower 5.6-liter V8. Both engines come mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and are rear-wheel drive. The NV2500 is also available as either a “standard roof” or “high roof” model in any of the three trims.

The base S comes equipped with features including 17-inch wheels, 50/50 split rear cargo doors with opening lock ability, a sliding side door on the passenger side, 57 total reinforced cargo mounting points, 10 reinforced mounting points in the ceiling, 6 floor mounting points, pre-wiring for electrical upfitting, three cargo area work lights, variable intermittent windshield wipers, a multifunctional trip computer, an under-seat storage tray, reinforced gray cloth seats with water-repellent surfaces, 4-way manual driver and passenger seats, an AM/FM/CD audio system with two speakers, and an AUX input.

Available optional packages include Rear Door Glass and Sliding Door Glass packages. A Power Basic package is also available. This adds power windows, power locks, cruise control, and remote keyless entry.

Selecting the SV trim builds on the S by adding the features available in the Power Basic package including power door locks and windows, keyless entry, power outside mirrors, cruise control, and steering wheel-mounted controls. Other standard features include a lockable center console with 12-volt and 120-volt outlets, an additional 120-volt outlet in the cargo area, a rear sonar system, air conditioning, MP3/WMA CD playback capability, and a rear cargo floor protector. Also available are rear and side window packages, and a Technology package that adds navigation, SiriusXM, USB port, Bluetooth compatibility, and rearview monitor.

Moving to the SL adds upgraded features like a chrome grille, bumpers, door handles and wheels, and an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat. Available options include the rear and side window packages, and the technology package.

CarsDirect Tip

In our opinion, the SV still offers the best balance of must-haves and comfort-focused amenities to make it the best overall value for most commercial users. The one area where an upgrade may make sense is in moving from the V6 to the V8. It represents a $1,200 cost difference, but if you do a fair amount of towing or heavy-duty hauling the move to a V8 may be worthwhile.
