The Big Three’s dominance of the commercial vehicle market within the U.S. is legendary, but that hasn’t stopped challengers from creating worthwhile options in an effort to compete. Nissan is among that camp, and the NV3500 Passenger is its entrant in the commercial passenger wagon niche. The NV Passenger offers a smooth ride, a compelling price point, and more than enough space to haul up to 12 people.

What's New for 2016

Changes for the 2016 NV Passenger are minor but include newly standard supplemental front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags. Cayenne Red, a new exterior color, is now also available.

Choosing Your Nissan Passenger NV3500 HD

A 261-horsepower 4-liter V6 is the NV Passenger’s standard engine, though an optional 5.6-liter V8 that generates 317 horsepower is also available. Both engines come mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, are rear-wheel drive, and only come as a “standard roof” height.

Featured equipment on an NV Passenger S includes 12-passenger seating capacity with 324 seating configurations, 12 passenger heating and cooling vents, water-repellent seat surfaces, 8 standard airbags, 17-inch steel wheels, 50/50 split rear cargo doors with opening lock ability, a passenger-side sliding door with privacy glass, rear window privacy glass, a rear window defroster, daytime running lights, pre-wiring for electrical and telematics, dual overhead map lights, a driver’s seat storage tray, 12-volt outlet, 4-way manual driver and passenger seats, and AM/FM/CD audio with four speakers. An optional Power Basic Package is available and adds power windows, power door locks, keyless entry, and cruise control.

Selecting the SV trim builds on the S by adding the features from the Power Basic package including power door locks and windows, remote keyless entry, and cruise control. Also added are standard features like an 8-way power driver’s seat, steering wheel-mounted controls, 6 rear passenger area map lights, a rear sonar system, chrome-clad wheels, a rear cargo light, variable-speed windshield wipers, a multi-functional trip computer, a lockable center console with laptop storage, three 12-volt outlets, two 120-volt outlets, six-speaker audio, and MP3/WMA CD playback capability. Options include a Technology Package that adds a 5.8-inch color touchscreen monitor, Bluetooth capability, SiriusXM radio, rearview monitor, and a USB port.

Upgrading to the SL trim automatically adds the V8 engine as well as leather-appointed seats, heated front seats, dual-zone air conditioning, a 5.8-inch color touchscreen monitor with NissanConnect and navigation, and a rearview monitor.

CarsDirect Tip

In our estimation, the SV trim represents the best overall value in terms of cost and balance of necessities to comfort focused amenities.
