Choosing Your Ford Taurus
The Ford Taurus offers standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. Four trims are available: SE, SEL, Limited, and SHO. The sporty SHO comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Three engines are available. The standard 3.5-liter V6 puts out 288 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. Available on the SE, SEL, and Limited is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
The Taurus SHO is the only model equipped with a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 making 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel economy comes in at 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for the base model, and 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway for models powered by the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The SHO manages 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Standard equipment includes aluminum wheels, dual exhaust tips, LED taillights, keyless access and ignition, a split-folding rear seat, and an audio package.
The 2017 Taurus is priced from $27,345 to $42,520, plus $875 for destination. Add $1,850 for all-wheel drive. The SEL edition offers an Equipment Group package ($1,050) comprised in part of power-adjustable pedals and SYNC 3 infotainment. Limited and SHO trims offer a Driver Assist package ($1,995) composed of adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with brake support, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and active park assist.
Individual upgrades include the turbocharged four-cylinder engine ($995), a cargo organizer ($200), a sunroof ($995), navigation ($795), and SYNC 3 ($1,050). Not all upgrades are available across all trims.
The Limited equipped with the turbo engine, all-wheel drive, and the Driver Assist package will come in below $40,000 with incentives. That’s in line with competing models and provides you with an elegant, well-equipped sedan.
