The Volkswagen GTI has always been a thrill to drive while also being a practical daily driver. The GTI can handle five passengers, and the hatchback gives you plenty of cargo space to carry whatever gear you need.

What's New for 2017

Autonomous emergency braking is now available on all trim levels. A new Sport model joins the lineup.

Choosing Your Volkswagen GTI

The turbocharged 2.0T 4-cylinder TSI® engine cranks out 210 HP and still manages an impressive 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg out on the highway making it an affordable commuter car, while still being a blast to drive.

Four trims are available for 2017: S, Sport, SE, and Autobahn. All trim levels have the same engine under the hood, a 2-liter four-cylinder turbo rated at 210 horsepower, or 220 horsepower on the Sport and above. A conventional six-speed manual transmission is standard across all trims, and a six-speed automated manual transmission is optional.

The 2017 GTI starts at $26,415 for the base S model and runs up to $34,915 for the Autobahn version.

Comes with cloth upholstery, heated front seats, Bluetooth phone and audio, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, and selectable driving modes (Normal, Sport, Individual).

Carries upgraded brakes, a performance differential, bi-xenon headlights, keyless access and ignition, and sportier trim throughout.

Ups the luxury quotient with leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Fender sound system.

Tops of the GTI with a driver-adjustable adaptive suspension system, a power driver seat, navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control.

All models are eligible for a Driver Assistance package with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front collision warning with automatic braking, parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control (the last feature is standard on the Autobahn).

CarsDirect Tip

Every GTI is fun to drive and offers a good amount of standard equipment. If you're looking for a taste of luxury, the SE and Autobahn are probably your best options. Whichever model you choose, the Driver Assistance package will ensure your safety on the road and is reasonably priced for what you get.
