2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Diesel: Preview & Release Date

, Senior Pricing Analyst - September 29, 2016

The Mercedes-Benz C300d 4MATIC is an all-new diesel model. Although the car was originally slated to go on sale in early 2016, the automaker has reportedly pushed this back to at least 2017 or 2018 due to regulatory compliance challenges.

Unlike most cars in the lineup with a diesel counterpart, the C300d will be offered only in all-wheel drive. Although full official specs have not yet been released, the car may come with the automaker's 2.1-liter 4-cylinder engine from the larger E250 BlueTEC. In the all-wheel drive version of that vehicle, it produces 195 hp with 369 lb-ft of torque, with fuel economy of 27 mpg city, 38 mpg and 33 mpg overall.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the C300d will come equipped with a full range of luxury and safety features. These include a 7-inch tablet-style display with the latest infotainment system, a touchpad media interface, standard collision prevention and more.

Like other C-Class models, additional features like a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, LED headlamps are also available. Well-equipped models also get available blind spot detection, lane-keeping assistance, cross-traffic warning and more.

Official pricing has not yet been released.

Stay tuned for the official announcement.
