The 2018 Porsche Macan enters the new model year with minimal changes. Some new interior and exterior color choices are available, while Porsche will now pay for the Macan’s first scheduled maintenance service. The interior of the crossover also benefits from an improved carbon air filter.
Choosing Your Porsche Macan
The Macan may have the body of a crossover, but it has the look of a sports car and the performance components of one, too. The base Macan is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that generates 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission as standard with power going to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system. It may be the base powertrain, but the Macan can get from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 6.3 seconds.
Stepping up to the Macan S brings a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that makes 340 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. The next step up is the Macan GTS that features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 360 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Zero to 60 mph takes just five seconds, while the crossover has a top speed of 159 mph. The GTS trim is the ideal choice for consumers looking to have usable performance in a versatile package.
Moving up to the Turbo trims brings an even more powerful 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine to the Macan. The larger V6 motor is good for 400 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Sixty mph passes by in just 4.6 seconds, while the crossover has a top speed of 164 mph. The range-topping Macan Turbo with Performance Package has a tuned 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that cranks out 440 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque.
The most fuel-efficient Macan is the base model with the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is rated to get 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. On the other end of the spectrum, the Macan Turbo with the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 is only rated to get 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Base
The standard Macan costs $48,850 (including the $1,050 destination fee). Standard exterior features on the Macan include 18-inch wheels, side blades in Lava Black, Bi-Xenon headlights, electrically folding exterior mirrors, and twin single-tube tailpipes. On the inside, the Macan comes with a multifunction sport steering wheel, gearshift paddles, a 4.8-inch color screen, three-zone automatic climate control, remote central locking, eight-way comfort seats with Alcantara centers, cruise control, the piano black interior package, a reversing camera, an automatic rear hatch, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
Optional packages on the Macan include the Premium Package Plus ($5,950) and the Premium Package ($2,590). The Premium Package Plus adds the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), a Bose surround sound system, auto-dimming mirrors, heated front and rear seats, 14-way power seats with memory, ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, and Porsche Entry & Drive. The Premium Package includes PDLS, a Bose surround sound system, auto-dimming mirrors, and heated front and rear seats.

The Macan S is priced at $56,450. The trim comes with the more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and some more performance components over the standard Macan. On the outside, the Macan S gets 19-inch wheels, dual twin-tube tailpipes, privacy glass, heated exterior mirrors, Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic headlight leveling, a headlight cleaning system, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, and LED taillights.
On the inside, the trim features: a 10-speaker audio system, a 7.0-inch TFT display, front and rear ParkAssist with a reversing camera, and the Comfort Lighting Package as standard. The Macan S has the same available packages as the standard Macan.
GTS
The Macan GTS has a starting price tag of $69,950 and combines sporty features with luxury ones to create a performance-oriented trim. The Macan GTS comes with air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard. Exterior features on the trim include 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, the SportDesign Package with SportDesign side skirts, gloss black trim pieces, a Sport Exhaust System, and tinted LED taillights.
The interior comes with Porsche Communication Management, brushed aluminum trim pieces, GTS eight-way Sport Seats, and aluminum door-sill guards.
The only available package for the Macan GTS is the Premium Package Plus ($3,390) that adds a Bose Surround Sound System, auto-dimming mirrors, front and rear heated seats, a panoramic roof, and Porsche Entry and Drive.
Turbo
The Macan Turbo gets the larger and more powerful 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and some tech-forward features to match, carrying a price tag of $78,250. The Turbo trim features red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, a bespoke front fascia with larger air intakes, aluminum exterior trim, and SportDesign side skirts on the outside.
Standard interior features include: Porsche Communication Management with navigation, a 14-speaker Bose Surround Sound System, HomeLink programmable garage door opener, an analog clock on the center dashboard, bespoke “turbo” instruments, a heated steering wheel, smooth-finish leather seats, 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats, Alcantara rooflining, and “Macan Turbo” aluminum door-sill guards.
The Premium Package Plus ($3,600) is the only available package for the trim and adds auto-dimming mirrors, ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, Porsche Entry & Drive, and lane keeping assist with lane change assist.
Turbo w/Performance Package
The Macan Turbo with Performance Package is the range-topping model for the Macan lineup and starts at $88,750. The 3.6-liter V6 engine is even more powerful and comes with the Sport Chrono Package as standard. Besides the extra boost in power, the Macan Turbo with Performance Package comes with a lot of the same standard features as the Macan Turbo. The Premium Package Plus is the only available package for the trim.
Choosing what kind of performance you want out of your Macan is the easiest way of choosing a trim. The Macan S, with its 340-hp engine and affordable price tag is a great option. As with any Porsche, things can quickly get out of hand for the Macan S, as the automaker allows consumers to change every little component of the vehicle at a price.
