Expert Rating

3.1 (Good)
23 City / 31 Highway

Unlike other websites and magazines, our ratings are not based solely on a singular road test, but rather a more encompassing batch of criteria: quality, safety, comfort, performance, fuel economy, reliability history and value. When comparing vehicles using our Rating System, it's important to note that the rating earned by each vehicle correlates only to the models within its class. For example, a compact car cannot be compared to a SUV—They are different vehicles altogether.

You can interpret our ratings in the following way:

5-Star: Outstanding vehicle. Only the most exceptional vehicles achieve this rating.

4-Star: Very Good vehicle. Very good and close to being the best vehicle in its class.

3-Star: Good vehicle. Decent, but not quite the best. Often affordable, but lacking key features found in vehicles of the same class.

2-Star: Below average vehicle. Not recommended, and lacking attributes a car buyer would come to expect for the price.

1-Star: Poor vehicle. Simply does not deserve to be on the road.

The 2019 Audi TT celebrates its 20th anniversary by giving consumers two, well-balanced sports cars to consider. The TT is available as a coupe or soft-top roadster, each propelled by a spiced-up turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive. With the sport-tuned suspension and a plethora of technology features, upgradeable packages, and exterior color options to configure an Audi TT to their personal taste.

What's New for 2019

The 2019 Audi TT receives some significant changes for 2019. The exterior features a redesigned front fascia, two larger air intakes, and an improved S line exterior package that adds a pair of vertical intake ducts and additional style enhancements. Under the hood, the TT’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine receives eight additional horsepower which is delivered to the all-wheel drive via an improved seven-speed automatic transmission. For its 20th anniversary, Audi is also offering an exclusive exterior paint option for an additional $3,900.

Choosing Your Audi TT

The 2019 Audi TT coupe and convertible roadster receive its power via a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The TT coupe is technically a two-plus-two configuration, but in all honesty, trying to squeeze anyone besides smaller children in the rear seats is quite challenging. The roadster is equipped with a soft-top convertible top and is an honest two-seater.

The Audi TT Coupe begins at $45,895 (all prices include the $995 destination charge). The TT Coupe features keyless entry with push-button start, full leather seating surfaces, and 12-way power front sport seats with four-way power lumbar support that are heated. Additionally, the TT includes automatic climate control, ambient LED interior lighting, shift paddles, a sport drive select system, and 50/50-split folding rear seatbacks. This stylish coupe comes with the Audi Virtual cockpit, a fully digital 12.3-inch infotainment screen that displays a rearview camera with navigation, a nine-speaker sound system, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Consumers have multiple ways to spice up their TT Coupe. The Coupe’s base exterior color is Ibis White, but for an additional $595, shoppers can opt for six brilliant metallic paints. While 18-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels are standard, there are two 19-inch wheel upgrades ($1,000 and $2,200, respectively) available. Audi also provides three interior color upgrades ($1,250 or $2,200, respectively), and two à la-carte S Sport front seat upgrades ($1,250 and $2,200, respectively). The fun comes by adding the S line competition package ($2,200) which adds 19-inch, five-arm alloy wheels, gloss black exterior mirror housings, a rear spoiler, black exhaust pipes, red brake calipers, and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

The 2019 Audi TT Roadster, which starts at $49,395, is a virtual clone of the Coupe. The primary difference is the black retractable acoustic soft top that can fold at speeds of up to 31 mph. There are a few differences with upgradable options such as only one interior upgrade ($1,850). However, the TT Roadster can be stuffed with a Technology Package ($3,500) that adds navigation, Audi’s connect online services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a 12-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system.

CarsDirect Tip

The 2019 Audi TT is fun to drive. However, if you’re looking for more pep under the hood, the TTS RS Coupe or TTS Roadster (both covered separately) with a 290-horsepower engine and enhanced suspension should be explored.
