2019 Cadillac CT5: Preview & Release Date

Model Preview

The Cadillac CT5 is expected to be a new addition to the lineup sometime in 2019 or 2020.

In an interview with Reuters, Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen has confirmed the model will replace three existing vehicles: the ATS, CTS and XTS. The automaker will update its offerings in response to struggling sedan sales in the U.S.

At the moment, it's unclear what Cadillac has in mind in terms of engines and performance. In the mid-$35,000 range, the ATS features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 272 hp. A 3.6-liter V6 is also available with 335 hp starting from around $45,000.

The CTS is currently offered with a version of the 2.0-liter turbo making 268 hp, as well as the same V6 as the ATS. Prices start at just under $47,000 for the 2.0-liter and $55,000 for the V6. However, a more powerful 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 is available in V-Sport models producing 420 hp that tops out at over $71,000.

Nothing official has been announced regarding the fate of the performance-oriented ATS-V and CTS-V, which start at just under $64,000 and $87,000, respectively. Both offer track-ready performance from a 3.6-liter engine making 464 hp in the ATS-V and a whopping 640 hp in its big brother courtesy of a 6.2-liter V8.

Will there be a CT5-V at some point down the road? That remains to be seen.
