Chevrolet has a new Silverado 1500 pickup truck, but the Silverado 2500HD soldiers on for one more year before the newest version of this heavy-duty model debuts. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD may be an older model, but it hasn’t lost any of its punch.
What's New for 2019
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is a carryover model.
Choosing Your Chevrolet Silverado 2500
The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is a full-size, heavy-duty pickup truck. It's available in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles with standard rear-wheel drive and available four-wheel drive. It comes in WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country trims.
Chevrolet offers a pair of V8 engine choices. A 6.0-liter gas engine is standard; a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-\diesel engine is available. Both work with a six-speed automatic transmission. The conventional towing capacity ranges from 13,000 pounds with the gas engine to 20,000 pounds with the diesel, depending on the cab choice. Even higher ratings are achieved with fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailering.
Standard features include 17-inch steel wheels, a locking tailgate, a seven-inch color touchscreen display, a six-speaker audio system, vinyl seats, and a manual tilt steering column.
The Silverado 2500HD offers multiple package choices, depending on the trim. There's a WT Convenience Package ($710, remote keyless entry, heated outside mirrors, remote locking tailgate, deep-tinted glass, a 110-volt power outlet, and power windows) and an LT Convenience Package ($710, remote vehicle starter system, manual tilt-and-telescopic steering column, driver 10-way power seat adjuster, dual-zone climate control, and 110-volt outlet). A Texas Edition ($2,685, fog lights, remote start, 10-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, manual tilt-and-telescopic steering column, and trailering equipment) and a Custom Sport Package ($2,810, body color embellishments, front fog lights, chrome touches, a spray-in bedliner, 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, and front and rear park assist) are also present. An LTZ Plus Package ($1,695, power adjustable pedals, heated steering wheel, Bose audio system, and front and rear park assist) and a Driver Alert Package ($845, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, safety alert seat, and front and rear park assist) also bolster the truck. Available on two top trims is a Duramax Plus Package ($9,940 High Country, $11,055 LTZ) that adds the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 engine, a heavy-duty transmission, a 3.73 rear axle ratio, an engine block heater, an exhaust brake, the contents of the LTZ Plus Package, and chrome embellishments with the High Country.
WT
The Silverado 2500HD gets its start with the WT or Work Truck that starts at $38,995 (all prices include the $1,495 destination charge). This is a bare-bones model with steel wheels, hand-crank windows, vinyl seats, and a tilt steering column. The 6.0-liter V8 with 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque is the lone engine choice, while buyers can add four-wheel drive for $3,000 extra.
LT
The Silverado 2500HD LT ($44,390) builds on the WT, adding body-color embellishments, an easy lift and lowering tailgate, and cloth seating. You’ll also find Chevrolet MyLink with an eight-inch color screen, connected services, and satellite radio. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is available.
LTZ
It'ss at the LTZ trim ($51,290) where the turbodiesel engine first becomes available. This engine makes 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque and works with a six-speed Allison automatic transmission. The LTZ features remote vehicle start, chrome embellishments, leather seats, heated front seats, trailer equipment, a 110-volt outlet, and a power-sliding rear window with defroster.
High Country
Available as a Crew Cab with the standard box only, the High Country ($57,690) delivers the ultimate 2500HD package. This model has several unique features including its grille, front and rear bumpers, and interior colors. Other features include 20-inch chromed-aluminum wheels, heated and vented front seats wrapped in custom leather, chrome assist steps, movable cargo box tie-downs, a spray-in bedliner, Bose premium audio system, center floor console, and front and rear park assist.
