Value above all else. Genesis may not be a well-known brand compared to BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz, but the South Korean automaker stomps the rest when it comes to value. The 2019 Genesis G80 comes with an incredible amount of standard features, including an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, and much more.

The G80 comes with features that aren't available on some competitors. And while the vehicle is packed with all sorts of goodies, its price tag remains reasonable for the luxury segment. Pricing starts at $43,045 including destination.

A trio of strong engines. Performance for the G80 is inspiring and, once again, is competitive when compared to other options. The base engine is a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 311 horsepower and 293 pound-feet of torque. The mid-level Sport comes with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that makes 365 hp, while the range-topping 5.0-liter V8 produces 420 horses.

Comfortable, smooth ride. When it comes to soaking up miles on an open highway, few vehicles provide a ride that's as smooth or comfortable as the G80's. The sedan's suspension soaks up all types of bumps and the cabin is incredibly quiet. With an almost unbeatable amount of interior space, the G80's cabin is airy and comfortable to be in for a long time.

Lackluster fuel economy. With nothing but V6 and V8 engines available, the G80 isn't the most fuel-efficient luxury vehicle on sale. The most efficient V6 is rated to get 18 miles per gallon city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 combined. Meanwhile, the twin-turbo V6 returns 17/25/20 mpg (city/highway/combined), while the V8 checks in at an even worse 16/24/19 mpg.

Final thoughts. At this price point, there's a lot to like with the 2019 Genesis G80. It has more standard features than its competitors, costs less than its competitors, and does nearly everything as good as its competitors. Who knew a mid-size luxury sedan could be this good of a value proposition?

It's not just the G80's incredible feature-to-price ratio that makes it an excellent option, though. There's the great ride, trio of great engines, and spacious cabin. Safety is also one of the G80's strengths, as the sedan boasts all of the latest safety tech and a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the IIHS.

The Audi A6 brings more tech to the table and an available 48-volt mild-hybrid system. BMW's 5-Series puts performance and a handsomely styled cabin at the forefront of its abilities. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is arguably the model to beat, as it boasts a truly luxurious cabin, great performance, and more tech than one could ever ask for. All of these options, though, cost much more than the G80.
