The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is available in all 50 states (and Canada), unlike its Clarity Fuel Cell and Clarity Electric brethren. Positioned as a five-passenger sedan with a wind-tunnel-shaped exterior and an efficient and flexible powertrain, the 2019 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid also has the technology and modern touches that further add to its sense of value.

Choosing Your Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid
The Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Together, they generate 212 horsepower and, most importantly, deliver an EPA-estimated 47 miles of all-electric range. Fuel economy comes in at 42 miles per gallon combined, or 110 miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent (MPGe) combined.
The 17-kwh lithuium-ion batter pack is Level 1 and Level 2 charging compatible. Selectable configurations for EV-only, battery recharge, and even a sport mode allow the driver to prepare the car for what’s ahead.
Inside the aero-smooth exterior is a roomy five-passenger interior and a trunk large enough for four golf bags while the rear seats fold flat for long items. Extensive use of light-weight materials and new production techniques help keep the car’s weight to nearly 4,000 pound. That figure includes noise-isolating parts such as liquid filled rear suspension bushings, liberal use of sound insulation mats, and acoustically laminated front windows and windshield.
The four-wheel independent suspension features amplitude reactive dampers and is tuned for a smooth but controlled ride, which is further aided by the battery pack’s low center.
There are two trim levels offered:
There's no mistaking the mission of the 2019 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. Until re-charging times decrease and the fast-charging network expands, gasoline is the practical choice of energy for long trips. Yet, typical weekday work commutes fall easily within the range of lighter and less expensive batteries, making the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid one of the most practical and efficient vehicles available. The base trim level is well equipped, leaving few reasons to upgrade to the Touring.
