2020 Acura RLX OVERVIEW

The 2020 Acura RLX acts as the brand’s flagship sedan, but fails to stand out in the class. While featuring a powertrain that’s derived from the same one found in the NSX supercar, its dated cabin that has an odd dual-screen setup, cramped rear seats, and confusing trim layout keep it toward the bottom of the segment.

Choosing Your Acura RLX

Instead of offering trim levels like nearly every other automaker, Acura offers packages that act similarly. The RLX comes standard with a Technology Package, while a Sport Hybrid Advance Package is the other "trim" option. Prices start at $55,895 including destination and climb to $62,895 for the RLX Sport Hybrid.

Engine Choices

The non-hybrid RLX is only available in front-wheel drive and comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The RLX Sport Hybrid is all-wheel drive only and features a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Engine TypeHorsepowerTorqueFuel Economy (Combined)
3.5L V6310 hp272 lb-ft23 mpg
3.5L V6 Hybrid377 hp347 lb-ft28 mpg

With standard AWD, 67 more horsepower, and 75 more pound-feet of torque, the RLX Sport Hybrid’s ability to get better fuel economy is impressive.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The RLX has a five-passenger seating capacity. Trunk space measures in at 14.9 cubic feet, which is below average for the large sedan segment. The RLX Sport Hybrid loses some cargo space with a total of 12 cubic feet.

Safety Features

Acura offers a strong list of safety features on the RLX. Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Acura’s Traffic Jam Assist.

Going with the RLX Sport Hybrid brings a surround-view camera, a head-up display, and front and rear parking sensors as standard.

Connectivity

The RLX has one of the more complicated infotainment systems on the road. The center console features an 8-inch upper display that’s mostly used for navigation, while a 7-inch touchscreen sits directly below. A USB port, Bluetooth, navigation, and smartphone integration are included with the infotainment setup.

Technology Package - From $55,895

The standard RLX comes with a competitive list of standard features. A power moonroof, LED headlights, 19-inch wheels, heated exterior mirrors, and LED taillights are standard. Interior features include leather upholstery, 12-way front sports seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and tri-zone automatic climate control.

Sport Hybrid Advance Package - From $62,895

The RLX Sport Hybrid adds ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, LED fog lights, and remote engine start as standard equipment.

CarsDirect Tip

With no options outside of color and wheel choice, what you see is what you get with the 2020 Acura RLX. With extra safety features, luxury features, and better fuel economy, the RLX Sport Hybrid is a better choice for the majority of consumers.
