What's New

After a one-year hiatus, the Audi S6 returns. Following a complete overhaul in 2019, the 2020 Audi S6 is also new, bringing with it many changes, including a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that replaces the previous V8.

Choosing Your Audi S6

Audi offers the S6 in two trims: Premium Plus and Prestige. The Premium Plus starts at $74,895 including destination, while the Prestige costs $80,595.

Engine Choices

A 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that makes 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque powers the Audi S6. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The powertrain also features a 48-volt hybrid battery system, which aids in off-the-mark acceleration and fuel efficiency. Kinetic energy through regenerative braking is captured by an electric motor-generator, which stores it in a battery.

The S6 achieves an EPA-estimated 18 miles per gallon city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 combined.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The Audi S6 is a five-passenger mid-size luxury sedan. Interior space is ideal for four, yet still comfortable for five. A slightly longer wheelbase (by 0.3 inches) translates into improved legroom front and back.

Cargo volume has yet to be determined, but the Audi A6 offers 13.7 cubic feet, so we think it'll be similar in the S6.

Safety Features

The Audi S6 comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, and a surround-view camera system.

The Prestige trim adds adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a head-up display. These features minus the head-up display are available on the Premium Plus through the Driver Assistance Package ($2,250).

Night vision assistant with large animal and pedestrian detection is available for $2,500 on the Prestige trim.

Connectivity

The S6 features a dual touchscreen infotainment layout with a 10.1-inch upper unit and an 8.6-inch lower display. Bluetooth, navigation, four USB ports, HD radio, satellite radio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging come standard.

Premium Plus - From $74,895

The Audi S6 Premium Plus comes well equipped with LED lighting, 20-inch alloy wheels, power-folding and heated side mirrors, and a rear-lip spoiler. Inside, the S6 features Valcona leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, heated and 18-way power front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power steering column, and four-zone automatic climate control.

The S6 Executive Package ($1,650) brings heated rear seats, a power open/close trunk, multicolor ambient interior lighting, and leather to the dashboard, armrests, and center console.

Prestige - From $80,595

Building on the Premium Plus trim, the Prestige package adds the aforementioned active safety features, dynamic daytime running lights, a power open/close trunk, and power soft-closing doors.

Inside, the dashboard, center console, and armrests are wrapped in leather, while dual-pane acoustic glass, heated rear seats, and an air quality system also come standard.

CarsDirect Tip

Price generally isn’t a concern if you're shopping for the 2020 Audi S6, so we'd spend up on the Prestige for the additional safety and luxury features.
