2020 Audi S7 Overview

What's New

Following hotly on the heels of the all-new Audi A7, the performance-oriented 2020 Audi S7 is fully redesigned More tech, more performance, and more luxury ensure the S7 is well worth the upgrade over the A7.

Interestingly, despite being a performance vehicle, the S7 is now available with a mild-hybrid system and ditches its V8 for a twin-turbocharged V6. The new powertrain is more efficient than the outgoing model's, while power remains nearly identical.

While all-new, the Audi S7 still shines in the segment thanks to its spacious cargo area, unique hatchback design, and cutting-edge technology.

Choosing Your Audi S7

Audi offers the S7 in two trims: Premium Plus and Prestige. Pricing for the Premium Plus starts at $84,895 including destination, while the Prestige costs $90,495.

Engine Choices

Every Audi S7 comes with a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 that’s paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. An electric supercharger is also included in the mix. Combined output is rated at 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, as is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Compared to the old S7’s twin-turbo V8, horsepower is down by six and torque is up by 36 lb-ft, but fuel economy is up. The setup achieves an EPA-estimated 18 miles per gallon city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 combined, which is up by 2/4/4 mpg (city/highway/combined) over the outgoing model.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The S7 has a five-person seating capacity. Audi hasn’t confirmed cargo capacity yet, but if the hatchback matches the new A (which we expect it to), cargo capacity behind the rear seats should measure in at 18.9 cubic feet of space.

Safety Features

Automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and a surround-view camera system are standard on the S7.

The Driver Assistance Package ($2,250) bundles adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist, intersection assist, and traffic sign recognition on the Premium Plus. These features plus a head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the Prestige.

Every S7 comes with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit system that includes a 12.3-inch driver information display. The infotainment system features a 10.1-inch upper display and an 8.6-inch lower display complete with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD radio, satellite radio, and Bluetooth. Four USB ports and wireless charging are also standard.

Premium Plus - From $84,895

The Premium Plus is well equipped with 20-inch wheels, heated and auto-dimming exterior mirrors, a power tailgate, and an adaptive rear spoiler on the outside. Interior features include four-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and heated 12-way power front seats.

Heated rear seats, for some strange reason, aren’t included with the S7. Instead, they’re available as part of the pricey S7 Executive Package that costs $2,150 and also included ambient interior lighting, leather interior trim, and upgraded HD LED headlights.

Prestige - From $90,495

The Prestige package brings the aforementioned safety features, soft-close doors, dual-pane acoustic glass, and the contents of the Executive as standard.

The S Sport Package brings more performance to the S7, but is pricey at $4,000. A sport rear differential, all-wheel steering, red brake calipers, and a sport exhaust system are included.

CarsDirect Tip

The Premium Plus trim is the one to go with in the 2020 Audi S7 lineup. There’s more than enough luxury, technology, and performance for the majority of consumers. The Driver Assistance Package is definitely worth getting.
