What's New
The 2020 Audi Q5 returns with some minor revisions. Every model now comes standard with new 18-inch wheels, all-season tires, and automatic high beams. The top two trims get updated 19-inch wheels, while package availability and feature content has been updated. Otherwise, it’s business as usual for Audi’s compact crossover.
A Q5 plug-in hybrid was announced earlier this year. While it's expected to reach the U.S. market, there are no hard details as to when this is happening.
Choosing Your Audi Q5
The Q5 is available in the three usual Audi trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Pricing starts at $44,295 including destination for the Premium and climbs to $52,445 for the Prestige.
Engine Choices
Every Audi Q5 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It generates 248 horsepower and 273-pound feet of torque, and achieves an EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon city, 28 mpg highway, and 24 combined.
A dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission feeds power to Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. The Q5 can tow up to 4,400 lbs with an available towing bracket.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Q5 offers seating for five passengers and 25.1 cubic feet of cargo volume. This expands to 53.1 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down.
Safety Features
Every Audi Q5 comes with automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. The no-cost Convenience Package is a must, as it further adds blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and vehicle exit warning.
The Premium Plus adds front and rear parking sensors and the features from the Convenience Package as standard, while the Prestige is equipped with lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and an automated parking system.
Connectivity
The base Q5 gets a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Two front USB ports, HD radio, and Bluetooth are included. The Premium Plus and Prestige upgrade to an 8.3-inch display with navigation and satellite radio, while two rear USB ports and wireless charging are also included.
Buyers of the most affordable Q5 benefit from leather upholstery, heat-insulating glass, three-zone climate control, and walnut wooden inlays. There's also heated and eight-way power front seats, push button start, ambient interior lighting, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Make sure to tick the boxes for the no-cost Convenience and Convenience Plus Packages to get more active safety features, keyless entry, satellite radio, memory for the driver's seat, auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, and wireless charging. A panoramic sunroof is a $1,450 standalone option.
The Q5 Premium Plus brings upgrades like a 12.3-inch driver information display, the upgraded infotainment system, and the aforementioned active safety features. Additional standard equipment includes the sunroof, memory for the driver's seat, and power-folding, heated, and auto-dimming side mirrors with memory functionality.
Buyers can bundle a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and all-weather floor mats with the Cold Weather Package ($750). Alternatively, those in warmer areas might opt for the Warm Weather Package ($1,450), which includes ventilated front seats and manual rear window sunshades.
The Prestige is the first model to receive a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system as standard, while the steering wheel gains power tilt and telescopic adjustment with memory. Don't forget about the standard head-up display, surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, and automated parking system, either.
Technology fans will undoubtedly be drawn to the 12.3-inch driver information display and larger touchscreen with navigation that come with 2020 Audi Q5 Premium Plus models. Still, the base Premium trim is hardly short on creature comforts, and it's $4,400 cheaper.
