What's New
The 2020 GMC Terrain returns largely unchanged, but it does add a few active safety features to the list of standard equipment. The biggest other changes are the discontinuation of the previously available 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine, and the former Black Edition package is now named the Elevation Edition.
Choosing Your GMC Terrain
The GMC Terrain is offered in four trim levels: SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. Pricing starts at $26,195 for the base SL and climbs to $39,495 for the range-topping Denali.
Engine Choices
A 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine comes standard on the SL, SLE, and SLT, while the Denali gets a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. The latter is also optional on the SLT trim for $3,095.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Max Towing Capacity | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
1.5L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 170 hp | 203 lb-ft | 1,500 pounds | 27 mpg |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 252 hp | 260 lb-ft | 3,500 pounds | 24 mpg |
Both engines are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available on the SLE, SLT, and Denali for $1,600. The AWD system includes a front-wheel-drive setting for maximum efficiency.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Terrain is available only as a five-passenger crossover. It has a cargo capacity of 29.6 cubic feet behind the second row, but space expands to 63.30 cubic feet with it folded.
