The 2020 Jaguar XF serves as the brand's mainstay sedan, priced and sized at the heart of the luxury market. Buyers can be assured of pleasing craftsman and fine performance, punctuated by racy charm that distinguishes the XF from key competitors.

What's New for 2020

The new Checkered Flag Special Edition provides sporty appearance enhancements. Parking sensors and full smartphone integration are now standard. The Portfolio trim and diesel option have departed.

Choosing Your Jaguar XF

The mid-size Jaguar XF starts out with rear-wheel drive and the 25t engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that develops 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The 30t is a higher output version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 296 hp and 295 lb-ft. The top choice is named S, a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 380 hp and 332 lb-ft.

All engines use an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is either a $3,000 option or standard throughout the lineup. The wagon XF Sportbrake is only available with the 30t and S engine setups, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive.

With the 25t, the XF is EPA-rated at 25 miles per gallon city, 34 mpg highway, and 28 combined with rear-wheel drive. The 30t setup achieves 23/31/26 mpg (city/highway/combined), while the S V6 comes in at 20/28/23 mpg.

The XF is now offered in four trims:

The entry-level Premium starts at $52,095 (all prices include the $995 destination fee) with the 25t. Standard features include a 10-inch touchscreen, front and rear parking sensors, leatherette seating with driver memory, aluminum interior trim, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto-dimming side and rearview mirrors, a power adjustable steering wheel, a sunroof, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Cold Climate Pack ($1,020) adds heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield. The Vision Assist Pack ($1,750) includes adaptive LED headlights with automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. Buyers get a Wi-Fi hotspot, infotainment apps, and voice controls with the Connect Pro Pack ($610).

Notable standalone options include navigation ($510) and a heated windshield with heated washer jets ($385).

The XF Prestige is priced from $56,545, and comes standard with leather seats, navigation, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and 19-inch wheels. The 30t powertrain is a $3,000 option. The XF Sportbrake Prestige with the 30t setup starts at $66,145.

The Comfort and Convenience Pack ($2,235) adds heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, and a hands-free power trunk lid. The Technology Pack ($945) includes an interactive driver display and a Meridian surround-sound system with CD/DVD capability. The Vision Assist Pack continues as an option.

An adaptive suspension is available for $1,020, a head-up display is $1,010, and burl wood trim costs $310.

The XF Sportbrake Prestige with the 30t setup starts at $66,145. Here, the Comfort and Convenience Pack costs $1,805 because it has no need for the hands-free power trunk lid, while the Technology and Vision Assist Packs remain available.

Checkered Flag Special Edition

The XF Checkered Flag is only avialable with the 30t engine and all-wheel drive for a starting price of $67,595. The body receives a front sport bumper, gloss black accents, a rear spoiler, special badging, and unique 18-inch gloss black wheels, while the features from the Vision Assist Pack come standard.

The Driver Assistance Package ($3,495) tacks on a surround-view camera, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. There's also a Luxury Interior Upgrade Pack ($2,150) with four-zone automatic climate control, an air quality sensor, ambient interior lighting, rear window shades, and illuminated sill plates. The Comfort and Convenience Pack and Technology Pack are still available.

Carbon fiber interior trim adds $810. Other features and standalone options are shared with the Prestige.

The $69,195 XF S is the only model to receive the supercharged V6 engine. All-wheel drive and an adaptive suspension as also standard. Special touches include an aerodynamic body kit, embossed leather seats, and 20-inch wheels.

The Black Pack ($375) adds a gloss black finish to the grille, side vents, and trunk lid. Otherwise, the S offers the same options and packages as the Checkered Flag Special Edition.

The XF Sportbrake S starts at $72,795. It offers similar standalone features and packages as the sedan variant, but the Comfort and Convenience Pack only costs $1,805 and the Luxury Interior Upgrade Pack is priced at $1,850 and includes a lockable cooled glovebox.

CarsDirect Tip

The 2020 Jaguar XF Premium's lack of leather seats makes it a non-starter for us. The Prestige provides access to everything buyers need to build a proper Jaguar, including the more potent four-cylinder. The upper trims are certainly more exciting, but value drops off as performance increases.
