The big news for the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is the introduction of a plug-in hybrid variant that generates more horsepower and torque than any of the 3.0-liter gas or diesel engines. Otherwise, the Range Rover Sport is unchanged from last year, as the current model approaches the end of its life cycle.

2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Overview

Choosing Your Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Land Rover offers the Range Rover Sport in six trims: SE, HSE, HST, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography Dynamic, and SVR. Pricing ranges from $69,945 including destination for the SE to $115,795 for the SVR.
Engine Choices
There are six different engines available. The base motor is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder, called P360 by Land Rover, that's available and SE and HSE. A 3.0-liter tubodiesel is available on those same two trims, the plug-in hybrid setup with a 2.0-liter engine is available on HSE and Autobiography Dynamic models, while the P400 3.0-liter six-cylinder comes exclusively with the HST. HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic trims can be had with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, while an uprated V8 is only available in the flagship SVR.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
P360 3.0L 6-Cylinder | 355 hp | 365 lb-ft | Not Yet Rated |
3.0L V6 Turbodiesel | 254 hp | 443 lb-ft | 24 mpg |
P400e 2.0L Plug-In Hybrid | 398 hp | 472 lb-ft | Not Yet Rated |
P400 3.0L 6-Cylinder | 395 hp | 406 lb-ft | Not Yet Rated |
5.0L Supercharged V8 | 518 hp | 461 lb-ft | 19 mpg |
5.0L Supercharged V8 (SVR) | 575 hp | 516 lb-ft | 16 mpg |
All models use an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Range Rover Sport can tow up to 7,716 pounds, but this drops to 6,613 pounds with the SVR V8 or to 5,511 pounds with the plug-in hybrid setup.
Passenger & Cargo Capacity
The Range Rover Sport typically seats five, but two third-row seats can be added on models with the P360, diesel, and lower rated 5.0-liter V8 engines for an extra $2,040. This means the HST, SVR, and plug-in hybrid models are only available with a five-passenger capacity.
Cargo capacity checks in at 27.5 cubic feet behind the second row, or 59.5 cubic feet with it folded flat. These figures drop to 24.8 and 56.8 cubic feet, respectively, on plug-in hybrid models.
Safety Features
As you’d expect from a luxury SUV, the Range Rover Sport is packed with standard active safety features. These include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
Every trim but the base SE is also equipped with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view camera system, a driver condition monitor, and traffic sign recognition.
Connectivity
All Range Rover Sport models come standard with a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Satellite radio, HD radio, bluetooth, and a wi-fi hotspot are also included, as is an interactive driver display.
SE - From $69,945
Range Rover Sport SE models include grained leather seating, 14-way power front seats, dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker audio system, 19-inch alloy wheels, and LED headlights. There’s keyless entry and push button start, while electronic air suspension is standard across the range.
In typical Land Rover fashion, the options list is lengthy. Heated front and rear seats cost $1,020, while the $920 Climate Comfort Pack adds a heated steering wheel, twin-blade sunvisors, and a center console refrigerator compartment. Serious off-roaders can specify the $1,785 Off-Road Pack to add a two-speed transfer box and adaptive dynamics.
HSE - From $75,545
The Range Rover Sport HSE comes with a fixed panoramic sunroof, Windsor leather upholstery, 16-way power and heated front seats. Gas and diesel models have a 11-speaker Meridian audio system, while the plug-in hybrid version boosts this to a 19-speaker system.
Upgrading to a sliding panoramic roof costs $510, while a black contrast roof runs for $665. Adding ventilation to the front seats costs $815, but you can add ventilation to the front and heating and ventilation to the back seats for $1,120.
Buyers can get a head-up display through the Vision Assist Pack ($1,635), which also includes automatic high beams and configurable ambient interior lighting.
HST - From $84,245
Distinguished by the P400 3.0-liter engine, its sliding panoramic black roof, and gloss black door mirrors, HST models also ride on 21-inch wheels with red brake calipers to give it a sportier appearance. The 19-speaker Meridian sound system and ventilated front seats are now standard.
HSE Dynamic - From $87,795
Equipped with the 518-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine, HSE Dynamic models include a two-speed transfer box and all-terrain progress control as standard, alongside adaptive dynamics and torque vectoring by braking. Otherwise, they’re similar to HSE in terms of cabin specs and features, although it does come standard with a sliding sunroof.
Autobiography Dynamic - From $90,285
The Autobiography Dynamic starts at $90,285 with the plug-in hybrid powertrain, but is also available with the 518-hp V8 for $99,510. Key upgrades include 22-way heated and cooled front seats clad in semi-aniline leather, three-zone climate control, soft-closing doors, and a heated steering wheel.
SVR - From $115,795
The SVR’s $115,795 starting price is explained by its 575-hp V8 engine and unique specifications. SVR branding appears everywhere from the seats to the steering wheel and red brake calipers, while a two-speed transfer box and sports suspension come as standard.
For $5,200, buyers can enhance this model's visual appearance with carbon fiber through the SVR Carbon Fiber Exterior Pack with exposed Carbon Fiber bonnet.
Compare Range Rover Sport Trims Side-By-Side
Many of the higher trim levels of the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport range justify their cost on the basis of extra power and model-specific design elements. For most buyers, the HSE trim should provide more than enough comfort and luxury.
