Unlike other websites and magazines, our ratings are not based solely on a singular road test, but rather a more encompassing batch of criteria: quality, safety, comfort, performance, fuel economy, reliability history and value. When comparing vehicles using our Rating System, it's important to note that the rating earned by each vehicle correlates only to the models within its class. For example, a compact car cannot be compared to a SUV—They are different vehicles altogether.
You can interpret our ratings in the following way:
5-Star: Outstanding vehicle. Only the most exceptional vehicles achieve this rating.
4-Star: Very Good vehicle. Very good and close to being the best vehicle in its class.
3-Star: Good vehicle. Decent, but not quite the best. Often affordable, but lacking key features found in vehicles of the same class.
2-Star: Below average vehicle. Not recommended, and lacking attributes a car buyer would come to expect for the price.
1-Star: Poor vehicle. Simply does not deserve to be on the road.
A rare find:
As usual, the Lexus GS is practically non-existent in dealer inventories. Due to the popularity of the brand's crossovers, it's rarely stocked and buying one typically requires a factory order with a lead time of around two to three months. The 2019s are in Lexus showrooms and the 2020s may be ordered.
Now available with the 2019 model is a special 10th Anniversary Edition with matte gray paint, black-polished wheels, and unique blue accents. It costs more, but the incentives are outstanding. For 2020, the entry-level GS 300 will be discontinued, leaving just the GS 350 and GS F.
The current offers are set to expire on November 4, 2019, and that's about when the annual "December to Remember" seasonal sales drive kicks in. Thus, it may be worth your while to wait for it. The examples listed here are available in the Western States.
Big Lexus Cash offers:
Lexus offers $4,000 in customer cash (Lexus Cash) to cover the GS F model only. Choose the other trims and you'll find $2,500 in Lexus Cash.
You can’t combine Lexus Cash with Lexus promotional financing, but that’s no loss. After all, the cash deals are outstanding and aren’t likely to stay around for long.
A $750 bonus is available for recent college grads and members of the military, but it requires you to take out a loan or lease through Lexus Financial to get it.
The current financing deals:
Choose a 2019 GS and you’ll find 1.9-percent APR financing for 60 months. Opt for a 72-month loan and that rate rises to 2.9-percent APR. If you prefer a GS F, these rates are a full percentage point higher.
Lease a 2019 GS from $539 per month:
You can lease a 2019 Lexus GS 350 from $539 for 36 months with $3,999 due at signing (10,000 miles per year). This offer gets you a well-equipped F Sport model with navigation and a lovely Mark Levinson audio system.
With an effective cost of $650 per month, this is a decent deal given the vehicle's $56,145 MSRP.
