What's New

The 2020 Lexus LC sports car returns for a third year and is mostly unchanged. The automaker unbundled some of its option packages, such as no longer requiring upgraded wheels when opting for the Premium Package.

An LC 500 Inspiration Series rolls out, but this special trim package is limited to 100 units. It comes in Nori Green Pearl paint and has a set of two-tone, 21-inch wheels and tires. Inside is a special black-and-tan color scheme.

Choosing Your Lexus LC

The Lexus LC is available in two trims: the gas-powered LC 500 and the hybrid LC 500h. Pricing starts at $93,975 including destination for the LC 500 and rises to $98,485 for the LC 500h.

Engine Choices

The LC 500 is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, while the LC 500h has a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with two electric motors.

Engine TypeHorsepowerTorqueFuel Economy (Combined)
5.0L V8471 hp398 lb-ft19 mpg
3.5L V6 Hybrid354 hp257 lb-ft30 mpg

Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is unavailable. The V8 engine works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid utilizes an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission paired with a four-speed automatic.

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The Lexus LC is a coupe that seats four, although the rear seat is essentially useless for tall passengers. That said, smaller individuals may find the room bearable with access and egress better than most other cars in this segment. At least the LC rewards the driver and front passenger with exceptionally comfortable sport seats.

Consider using your back seat for extra storage space because the trunk measures just 5.4 cubic feet in the standard model and 4.7 cubic feet in the hybrid.

Safety Features

Lexus delivers many of the important driver-assist safety features today's buyers expect. All LC models come with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, road sign assist, and automatic high beams.

In this day of touchscreen connectivity, the Lexus LC’s 10.3-inch display with a remote touchpad disappoints. The touchpad does all the work, but the learning curve is steep and you may find yourself distracted, which is never a good thing.

On the flip side, the infotainment system has several features we like, including Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, and navigation. A color head-up display is a $900 standalone option.

LC 500 - From $93,975

The LC 500 has a long list of standard features including LED lighting, fog lights, sport alloy wheels, performance tires, an adaptive suspension system, and a sport exhaust system. Inside, leather upholstery, a moonroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control come standard.

The available Performance Package ($5,960) adds a carbon fiber roof, active rear steering, variable gear-ratio steering, a speed-activated rear wing, carbon fiber door scuff plates, an Alcantara headliner, and eight-way power front seats with Alcantara inserts.

LC 500h - From $98,485

For an additional $4,510, the 500h brings hybrid technology to the LC. Beyond the hybrid drivetrain, the two models are virtually identical, though the LC 500h does add a rear spoiler.

A 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is bundled with perforated semi-aniline leather front seats and an Alcantara headliner in the Touring Package ($1,790).

CarsDirect Tip

Lexus places the emphasis on refinement with each of its models, but the 2020 Lexus LC simply adds an exclamation point. Opt for the hybrid model for the notable increase in fuel economy.
