What's New
For 2020, the Porsche Panamera receives special 10 Year Edition models for the base Panamera and Panamera E-Hybrid trims. As the name implies, the 10 Year Edition models are meant to celebrate the Panamera’s 10th birthday.
The special edition comes with 21-inch wheels, a White Gold Metallic satin finish, an adaptive air suspension, adaptive LED headlights, more driver assist safety features, and a few additional convenience features.
Beyond the addition of the new 10 Year Edition, the Panamera continues as one of the few luxury vehicles that has true sporting pedigree. While the Panamera may not look as good as other rivals, the vehicle expertly encompasses usability, luxury, and performance. Tech is also one of the highlights for the Panamera.
Choosing Your Porsche Panamera
The Panamera is available in six trims: Panamera, E-Hybrid, 4S, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S E-Hybrid. Pricing starts at $88,550 including destination for a base Panamera and climbs all the way up to $189,050 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid.
All six trims an available in Sport Turismo form, which brings a longer roof for more cargo space. All but the GTS also come in an Executive sub-trim, which brings a longer wheelbase for more interior room.
Engine Choices
The base Panamera gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 while moving up to the 4S brings a twin-turbocharged V6. The GTS gets a twin-turbo V8, while the Turbo gets an even more powerful version.
The E-Hybrid adds a 134-hp electric motor and a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery to the twin-turbo V6. The Turbo S E-Hybrid does the same to the twin-turbo V8. Both offer 14 miles of all-electric range, according to the EPA.
Engine Type | Trim Level | Horsepower | Torque | 0-60 mph Time |
3.0L Turbo V6 | Panamera | 330 hp | 330 lb-ft | 22 mpg |
2.9L Twin-Turbo V6 | 4S | 440 hp | 405 lb-ft | 21 mpg |
2.9L Twin-Turbo V6 Plug-In Hybrid | E-Hybrid | 457 hp | 516 lb-ft | 23 mpg |
4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 | GTS | 453 hp | 457 lb-ft | 19 mpg |
4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 | Turbo | 550 hp | 567 lb-ft | 21 mpg |
4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 Plug-In Hybrid | Turbo S E-Hybrid | 677 hp | 626 lb-ft | 20 mpg |
All Panameras use an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The base Panamera has rear-wheel drive, but an all-wheel-drive version (which Porsche labels as Panamera 4) is available for $4,600. The rest of the lineup comes standard with all-wheel drive.
The base engine's 330 horsepower should be enough for the majority of consumers, but the 4S’ 440-hp twin-turbo V6 engine is the sweet spot in the lineup. It doesn’t take a large hit in fuel economy, but adds an extra 110 horsepower.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Porsche Panamera can seat four passengers. Thanks to its hatchback body style, it has one of the larger cargo areas in the segment. Behind the rear seats, the Panamera offers 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the rear seats down, and that opens up to 47.3 cubic feet (or 52.6 cubic feet in Executive form).
Sport Turismo models bring 18.3 and 49.0 cubic feet, respectively. The E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid only offer 14.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats, or 44.0 cubic feet with it folded flat (49.3 in Executive guise). In Sport Turismo form, the plug-in hybrid variants offer 15 and 45.7 cubic feet, respectively.
Safety Features
The Panamera only comes with front and rear parking sensors as standard. At least Porsche offers numerous active safety features as options.
A surround-view camera ($1,200), lane keeping assist with traffic sign recognition ($1,220), adaptive cruise control ($2,890), a head-up display ($1,720), night vision assist ($2,540), and lane change assist ($1,060) are all available.
The available Assistance Package ($5,370) bundles adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane-keeping assist, and night vision assist together.

The E-Hybrid adds plug-in hybrid capability to the 4S' 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. This brings a 3.6-kW on-board charger and two power cables (one 240-volt and one 120-volt). Otherwise, it's equipped similarly to the base Panamera.
Moving up to a 7.2-kW on-board charger costs $840.
The 4S upgrades to the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with 440 hp. It also brings unique 19-inch wheels and titanium brake calipers.

The Turbo trim comes with the 550-hp V8, unique 20-inch wheels, smooth-finish leather upholstery, 14-way power front seats, heated rear seats, the 14-speaker Bose audio system, and walnut interior trim as standard.
Turbo S E-Hybrid - From $189,050

Compare Panamera Trims Side-By-Side
We recommend sticking with one of the lower trims and keeping options to a minimum with the 2020 Porsche Panamera. The Panamera 4S has the more powerful V6 and a good list of standard features, making it our choice.
