2020 Toyota Avalon Hybrid: Preview & Release Date

, Senior Pricing Analyst - January 22, 2019

Model Preview

Following a major redesign for 2019, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid is expected to be a carryover for the 2020 model year. Although Toyota hasn't released official specs or pricing yet, initial fleet ordering guides show the car will begin production in July 2019 with its arrival anticipated in September.

Based on our records, that would equate to a release date approximately 3-4 months later than the previous year. If the current schedule sees no changes, shoppers should expect to see some of the best deals on the 2019 Avalon Hybrid by late summer or early fall. In the case of this model, we generally find that these deals come in the form of greater discounts for buying rather than leasing.

Over the past several years, Toyota has made a big effort to bring pricing for its hybrid vehicles closer in line with their gasoline-powered counterparts. In this regard, the Avalon Hybrid has been no exception, with promotional lease deals for the hybrid being nearly identical to the gas model in some parts of the country.

Competitors to the Avalon include the Nissan Maxima, Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala. However, we think it's worth noting that the Impala is expected to be discontinued within the next several years as part of a larger push by GM to build higher-demand crossover SUVs.

This page will be updated as information becomes available.
