What's New

The 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid hits all of the marks for durability, efficiency, and value. Its lineup provides for a wide range of customer preferences, from eco-focused to sports-minded to luxury-oriented. Unfortunately, it lacks a battery pack big enough for grabbing headlines or government rebates. It is a Camry, after all.

Choosing Your Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Toyota Camry Hybrid is offered in three trim levels: LE, SE, and XLE. Pricing starts at $29,205 including destination for the LE and climbs to $33,505 for the XLE.

Engine Choices

The Camry Hybrid is motivated by an efficiency-tuned 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and an 88-kW electric motor for a total system output of 208 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque.

Power is sent to the front wheels by an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The Camry Hybrid can operate in EV mode for short distances, depending on the energy demand.

The LE trim, with its eco-friendly tires and fewer energy-sapping features, earns an EPA-estimated 51 miles per gallon city, 53 mpg highway, and 52 combined. The better equipped SE and XLE achieve 44/47/46 mpg (city/highway/combined).

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The Toyota Camry Hybrid seats five and offers 38 inches of rear leg room. The trunk serves up 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space. A split-folding rear seat increases the hybrid’s ultimate carrying capability.

Safety Features

Like all other 2020 Toyota models, the Camry Hybrid comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of active safety features. This means all models come with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and automatic high beams.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the XLE and optional on the LE and SE. The XLE also gets parking sensors and rear automatic emergency braking.

The LE and SE trims are equipped with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, three USB ports, and wi-fi hot spot capability. The XLE receives an 8-inch touchscreen and wireless charging, and opens up navigation as an option.

The driver receives a 4.2-inch multi-information display integrated between the power and speedometer gauges in the instrument cluster which grows to 7 inches in the XLE trim.

Hybrid LE - From $29,205

The Camry Hybrid LE kicks things off with bi-LED headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, keyless entry, and push button start. Inside, an eight-way power driver seat, a six-way manually adjustable passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an acoustic-laminated windshield are standard equipment.

Buyers who want a moonroof can get in a $2,705 package bundle that also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, wireless charging, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Hybrid SE - $30,905

The Hybrid SE is the sportiest of the Hybrid trims and wears 18-inch black wheels, a black grille with mesh inserts, extended rocker panels, a rear spoiler, and a chrome twin-tipped exhaust outlet.

A sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, and paddle shifters add to the trim’s feeling of engagement. A leather steering wheel, synthetic-leather upholstery, an eight-way power passenger seat, and a unique mesh interior trim are also included.

Hybrid XLE - $33,505

The Hybrid XLE brings full LED headlights and taillights, 18-inch silver wheels, and a bright metallic grille. Heated front seats, wood trim, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and leather seating further the luxury-like experience inside. Don't forget blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are now standard.

Navigation, a JBL audio system, and a sunroof are bundled together for $2,670. A surround-view camera, ventilated front seats, and adaptive headlights can be added to that mix for a total of $5,460.

CarsDirect Tip

The most frugal 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid, the LE, comes standard with a near-full roster of active safety tech and crosses the mystical 50 mpg combined mark, all without breaking the bank.
