The 2021 model year will bring about a new version of the legendary Jeep Grand Cherokee: the all-new, three-row 2021 Grand Cherokee L. Here’s what to expect from this more passenger-friendly Grand Cherokee.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will boast an all-new look distinguished from the 2021 Grand Cherokee – a redesigned Grand Cherokee with matching style will arrive later in 2021. This new look will draw inspiration from its predecessor, the Jeep Wagoneer. It’ll include a more upright nose with a thinner seven-slot grille that leans forward, slim LED headlights, a longer and flatter hood, a long and tapered roof, a lowered beltline and more expansive glasshouse, a more upright rear hatch, slim taillights, and so much more.
Inside, the headline change is the 2021 Grand Cherokee L’s new third row that allows it to haul six to seven passengers, depending on the seating configuration. This cabin will also be a step up from the already highline Grand Cherokee with its clean and luxurious dash, sculpted HVAC vents, natural wood accents, three-post steering wheel, 8.4- or 10.1-inch touchscreen, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, available premium materials, available 16-way front seats, up to 12 USB ports, customizable LED interior lighting, and much more.
Features will also be plentiful in the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Its available features list will include hand-wrapped Palermo leather upholstery, open-pore waxed walnut wood trim, a head-up display, a 950-watt audio system with 19 speakers, and more. Standard gear will also meet most drivers’ needs and will include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a Uconnect5 infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
Under the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L’s hood will lie a standard 3.6-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, buyers can move up to a 5.7-liter V8 with 357 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with front-axle disconnect for enhanced fuel economy.
Safety will also be top notch in the 2021 Grand Cherokee L. It’ll come standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, Lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and more. Buyers can also add a 360-degree camera, Level 2 automated driving, and more. Full IIHS testing will be available after its debut.
