In 2019, the fifth-generation Audi A6 arrived. This redesigned sedan retained the timeless look Audi’s long been known for, but it brought in more aggressive body lines and creases, and more. With this design still fresh, we expect no changes when the 2022 Audi A6 arrives.
The current Audi A6 boasts the brand’s notorious timeless style, albeit updated for the times. This look includes sharp body lines, a lower and wider Singleframe grille, wide headlights and taillights, and more. This all piles on top of the A6’s long, sleek silhouette to create an elegant yet simple look. We expect this look to remain the same in the 2022 A6.
Inside, the current A6 delicately blends simplicity with technology. It not only features dual touchscreens and an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for the technophiles, but it also features a classy design with no drama. This design includes a straightforward dash with contrasting wood elements and tasteful metallic accents. We expect this design to remain the same in the 2022 A6.
The Audi A6 starts in its 45 TFSI flavor, which includes a 248-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel drive. In its 55 TFSI and Allroad variants, the A6 gains a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 ponies. Moving into the S6 adds a 444-hp 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the RS 6 Avant uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 591 hp and an eight-speed automatic transmission. We expect these powertrains to remain the same in the 2022 A6.
The Audi A6 and A6 Allroad are IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recipients thanks to “Good” crash safety results in all IIHS tests, “Good”-rated optional LED projector headlights, and “Superior”-rated standard automatic emergency braking. Buyers can add other safety tech, including adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and more. We expect the 2022 Audi A6 lineup to retain all its safety gear and ratings.
