The Chrysler Pacifica arrived in 2021 with a variety of updates that helped it solidify its places as the benchmark for all minivans. An updated design that featured more muscular lines, increased availability for the all-wheel-drive system, and more available trims with a hybrid powertrain were noteworthy changes. New high-tech convenience features and driver-assist features were added, as well. With the minivan entering its sixth model year on sale, we expect the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica to be a carryover model.
When Chrysler introduced the Pacifica last year, the minivan arrived with a new look that mimicked an SUV. With a recent makeover, we expect the same design to carry into the 2022 model year. At the front, the minivan features a stubby front end with a large grille and a short hood. The rear end of the current Pacifica is more upscale, with U-shaped taillights that are connected with a horizontal light bar, an upright liftgate, and a slim rear bumper.
On the inside, the current Chrysler Pacifica offers a wide, spacious interior with a high-end look. From the driver’s seat, the minivan offers an excellent view out of the vehicle, while a rotary dial shift knob, simple dashboard design, and good use of interior space result in multiple storage compartments. Regardless of whether the Pacifica is fitted with second-row captain’s chairs or a bench seat, space in the third row is more than enough for adults. We expect the upcoming 2022 Chrysler Pacifica to retain the same overall look as the current minivan on sale.
On top of a 10.1-inch touchscreen, the current Pacifica comes with Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, an HD Radio, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and six audio speakers. Things like a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless smartphone charging, and navigation are available. These features will continue to be offered on the 2022 Pacifica.
Chrysler offers two powertrains with the Pacifica that should be available for the 2022 model year. The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that’s rated at 287 horsepower. This powertrain is offered with both front- and all-wheel-drive. A plug-in hybrid 3.6-liter V6 with two electric motors is also offered. The PHEV is rated at 260 hp.
The current Pacifica comes with forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam assist as standard. The IIHS hasn’t completed all of its testing on the current Pacifica yet, but the minivan has received a rating of “Good” in all six of its crash tests. The NHTSA gave the current Pacifica a five-star overall safety rating. We expect these safety features and ratings to remain the same for the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica.
