What's New
The 2022 Ford E-Transit adds a 12-inch touchscreen and Sync 4 voice controls to its standard infotainment system. New safety options include reverse automatic emergency braking, surround-view cameras, and adaptive cruise control with speed limit recognition.
Choosing Your Ford E-Transit
The 2022 E-Transit comes in a single trim level, Cargo Van, priced from $51,880 including destination. Separately, the company offers the Transit, a conventional internal-combustion-engine van primarily marketed for commercial duties.
Together with the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro pickup, the E-Transit helps form the basis of the new Ford Pro lineup of work-oriented vehicles. Like many EVs, the E-Transit is eligible for up to a $7,500 federal EV tax credit plus state plug-in rebates.
Engine Choices
The E-Transit is powered by an electric motor that develops 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. A single-speed transmission delivers power to the rear wheels. Designed for urban work environments, the E-Transit can travel up to 126 miles on a full charge.
Recharging a fully depleted battery takes eight hours on 240-volt Level 2 home charger.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The E-Transit is designed for cargo, so seating is limited to the driver and front passenger. In contrast, the gas-powered Transit offers seating for up to 15.
The E-Transit boasts 277.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats with the standard 83.6-inch Low Roof. The available 100.8-inch Medium Roof boosts capacity to 357.1 cubic feet. With the 110.1-inch High Roof, the E-Transit can swallow up to 487.3 cubic feet.
Safety Features
Every E-Transit comes equipped with automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. Rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are bundled for $740.
Optional driver assistance features include surround-view cameras ($655), reverse automatic braking ($905), an automated parking system ($830), and adaptive cruise control ($555).
Connectivity
The E-Transit's standard infotainment system is robust for this class. The setup includes a 12-inch touchscreen, navigation, Sync 4 voice controls, four front speakers, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Just $25 buys two rear speakers. Satellite and HD radio can be added for $220 — or $790 when bundled with traffic sign recognition and cruise control with speed limit assist.

The E-Transit starts off with automatic climate control, vinyl upholstery and front floor covering, automatic wipers, 16-inch steel wheels with full covers, and power windows, locks, and side mirrors. Glass side and cargo door windows cost $580.
The Interior Upgrade Package ($1,330) adds cargo area trim panels and rear vinyl flooring, vinyl front visors with lighted vanity mirrors, cloth seats, and cruise control. The package is available with 10-way heated power seats ($990) and leather upholstery ($1,160). The available body-color bumpers ($235) provides a finished look outside.

The 2022 Ford E-Transit is best suited to businesses that operate in a defined geographical area. While it lacks the performance of the EcoBoost engine available on the gas-powered Transit, the all-electric E-Transit can deliver enormous savings over time.
