Genesis continues growing its lineup, adding to its list of crossover SUVs with the debut of the 2022 Genesis GV70.
The 2022 Genesis GV70’s body will boast all the signatures folks have become accustomed to in the growing luxury lineup. Up front, the GV70 will feature a Crest Grille based on the Genesis logo, quad-lamp headlights with two-line signature lighting, a skid plate, and more. Down the sides, the GV70 boasts a parabolic line that starts at the top of the headlights and runs along the side of the SUV, creating a dramatic contrast with the rear fenders. Around back, the GV70 will include a swoopy rear hatch with forward-leaning C-pillars, matching signature lighting, thin taillights, vertical-shaped muffler, and more.
An optional Sport package dresses this sleek luxury crossover up with 21-inch with a G-Matrix pattern, dark-chrome garnishes, and a large-diameter exhaust.
Details are still slim on the interior, but preview images show off a thin, swoopy dashboard with some oval-shaped trimming and a massive widescreen infotainment system atop it. The 2022 GV70 will also feature a unique-looking steering wheel with an oval center, tasteful metallic trimming, and more. The Sport model builds upon this interior with exclusive colors and trim, a sport steering wheel, and carbon-fiber appointed consoles and doors.
There’s no word on the 2022 GV70’s powertrain, but we know it’ll be based on a rear-wheel-drive platform. We expect it to share powertrain bits with the G70, though. If this is accurate, the GV70 will come standard with a 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and have a 365-hp optional twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6.
Safety tests and features aren’t available yet. It’s expected sedan platform-mate, the G70, comes standard with automatic emergency braking, active lane control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitors, adaptive cruise control, and a driver-attention monitor. We expect the GV70 to come standard with at least the same features.
