What's New
The 2022 GMC Acadia arrives with minor changes. The most noteworthy change is the addition of Pro Safety Plus, which is the brand’s suite of advanced safety features, as standard equipment. The SUV’s lineup has been simplified, as the SL trim and the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine have been dropped.
The addition of more standard safety features is a nice touch, but the Acadia still languishes close to the bottom of the pack for the class. It has a tight third row, a cabin that can’t match its rivals, and a below-average towing capacity of up to 4,000 pounds.
Choosing Your GMC Acadia
The 2022 Acadia’s lineup is smaller than before. The SUV is available in four trims: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. Pricing for the SLE starts at $35,995 (with destination), while the Denali is priced at $47,300.
Engine Choices
GMC offers two different engines with the Acadia. The SLE and SLT come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as standard. A 3.6-liter V6 engine is available on the SLT and Denali trims for $495 and is standard on the AT4.
Both engines are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and come with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available with both engines for an extra $2,300 with the SLE and $2,000 on the SLT and Denali trims. The AT4 comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Max Towing | Fuel Economy (Combined) |
2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder | 228 hp | 258 lb-ft | 1,500 pounds | 25 mpg (FWD)/24 mpg (AWD) |
3.6L V6 | 310 hp | 271 lb-ft | 4,000 pounds | 22 mpg (FWD)/21 mpg (AWD) |
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
GMC offers the Acadia with various seating arrangements that include six- and seven-passenger layouts. All Acadia models come with six seats as standard, but can be equipped with an additional seat as a no-cost option.
For a midsize SUV, the Acadia has less cargo space than the majority of its competitors. The SUV has 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 41.7 cubic feet of space behind the second row, and a total of 79 cubic feet of cargo space.
Safety Features
Every Acadia now comes with GMC’s Pro Safety Plus suite as standard. The bundle includes automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, and rear cross traffic alert.
The SLT is available with the Technology Package that brings a head-up display and a surround-view camera for $1,000. The range-topping Denali is available with the Denali Technology Package that costs $1,795. It brings the same features as the Technology Package but adds adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking.
Connectivity
Every Acadia comes with an 8-inch touchscreen with a comprehensive list of features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, wi-fi hot spot, and five USB ports are included.
Navigation and an eight-speaker Bose audio system are included with the available Infotainment Package that costs $995. These features are standard on the SLT trim.

The available Driver Convenience Package adds remote start, heated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a hands-free liftgate. The package costs $1,750.
The Elevation Edition costs $1,495 and updates the Acadia’s design with 20-inch black wheels, a black grille, black roof rails, and black exterior trim pieces.
Acadia SLT — MSRP From $40,295
The SLT adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a hands-free liftgate, LED fog lights, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather upholstery.
The Preferred Package is priced at $995 and brings ventilated front seats, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, auto-dimming mirrors, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Acadia AT4 — MSRP From $42,595
For consumers planning to do some light off-roading, the AT4 is the standout trim in the lineup. It comes with the more powerful V6 engine and all-wheel drive as standard. Other standard features include all-terrain tires, 17-inch black wheels, special badges, black exterior pieces, and a hands-free liftgate.
The AT4 shares a lot of the same optional packages as lower trims.
Acadia Denali — MSRP From $47,300
Sitting at the top of the Acadia range as the most upscale choice, the Denali adds quite a few high-end features. Perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a wireless smartphone charger, heated exterior mirrors, a head-up display, and 20-inch wheels are all included as standard equipment.
The Denali Ultimate Package that costs $3,845 raises the bar. It brings a two-panel sunroof, adaptive suspension (on models with all-wheel drive), and a rear camera mirror.
Compare Acadia Trims Side-By-Side
With the turbo four-cylinder engine now standard, going with one of the lower trims is a better decision than before. The SLT trim continues to be the sweet spot in the lineup, coming with standard features that one would expect to see from a luxury SUV.
