The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander will arrive with an all-new look, bringing about the model’s fourth generation. Here’s what to expect from it.
On the outside, the all-new 2022 Outlander will boast a fully revamped body with a more upright design than before, giving it an SUV-like look while retaining its crossover proportions. It’ll retain the Dynamic Shield face the brand has become known for, but this nose will also gain slit-like headlight, a bolder grille, massive fog lights, and a flatter hood. Around back, thin taillights and bumper-integrated dual exhaust round out the all-new 2022 Outlander.
Inside, the three-row 2022 Outlander will introduce a more upscale look with its electronic gear shifter, large dash-top touchscreen, rotary drive selector knob, and clean-looking dash. It’ll further push into a more premium space with its available upscale features, which will include quilted semi-aniline leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone charger, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. The 2022 Outlander will also include standard USB-A and USB-C ports and an optional 10-speaker Bose audio system.
Mitsubishi didn’t dive deep into the 2022 Outlander’s powertrain, but it mentioned it’ll include a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and available Super All-Wheel Control all-wheel drive with six drive modes. With the standard front-wheel drive, the Outlander will have five drive modes.
We’ll have to wait on official IIHS crash test scores, but we expect the 2022 Outlander to include standard automatic emergency braking. Other available safety gear will include adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.
