What's New
The 2022 Nissan Sentra receives new option packages for its third year in its current form. The mid-level SV trim can now be equipped with an All-Weather Package, and the sport-flavored SR is available with a Midnight Edition Package.
Choosing Your Nissan Sentra
The Sentra once again comes in three trim levels: S, SV, and SR. Pricing starts at $20,485 including destination and reaches $23,075 for the SR.
Engine Choices
Every Sentra is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that musters 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) sends power to the front wheels.
The S and SV are EPA-rated at 29 miles per gallon city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 combined. The SR is rated 1 mpg lower due to its larger wheels.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Sentra is a compact sedan that does a competent job of seating five. The trunk holds 14.3 cubic feet, which is above average for this class.
Safety Features
The Sentra excels when it comes to standard driver assistance features. Every model gets blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, a driver alertness monitor, and front and rear automatic emergency braking. The SV and SR also come with adaptive cruise control. Surround-view cameras are available on the SR only in the $2,470 Premium Package.
Connectivity
The base S offers a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, four speakers, a USB port, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Moving up to the SV or SR brings satellite radio, six speakers, and a second USB port.
An eight-speaker Bose sound system is exclusive to SR with the Premium Package.
Nissan doesn't yet offer navigation or wireless charging on the Sentra.
The Sentra comes equipped with keyless entry, a 4.2-inch driver info display, LED headlights and running lights, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and 16-inch steel wheels with full covers. There are no option packages for the S.
The SV offers plusher cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear center armrest with cupholders, a seven-inch driver display, heated side mirrors, rear disc brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, and the aforementioned safety and connectivity upgrades.
For $590, the new All-Weather Package adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and remote start. With those features in place, buyers can top off the SV with a $1,860 Premium Package with quilted leather seats, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a sunroof, a six-way power driver seat, and 17-inch wheels.
The SR goes for a sportier look with a dark grille, aerodynamic body trim, signature LED running lights, sport cloth seats with orange stitching, and 18-inch wheels. Dual-zone automatic climate control and remote start are standard. The Midnight Edition Package ($695) goes further with black wheels and black exterior trim and badging.
The $2,470 Premium Package for the SR (N/A with Midnight Edition) provides leatherette upholstery, heated front seats with driver power, a heated steering wheel, thin projector LED headlights, and lighted visor vanity mirrors — plus the Bose sound system and surround-view cameras.

We see no reason to settle for the S when the SV offers much more for only $1,060 extra. With the Premium Package selected, the SV is probably the most luxurious car in its class. The SR's upgrades are mostly cosmetic, although it does provide access to some nice features not offered on the SV.
