What's New
Fresh off of a mid-product-cycle upgrade last year, the 2022 Camry Hybrid returns unchanged. For the regular gas version, please see our overview of the 2022 Toyota Camry.
Choosing Your Toyota Camry Hybrid
Toyota offers the 2022 Camry Hybrid in LE, SE, XLE, and XSE trims. This midsize sedan seats five and sends power to the front wheels.
2022 Camry Hybrid prices range from $28,405 with destination to $33,845 for a fully-loaded XSE. At the entry level, that's a little more than $2,000 more than the cost of a comparable Camry LE ($26,320).
Engine Choices
The 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine. It produces 176 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. Separately, an electric motor cranks out 118 horsepower and 149 pound-feet of torque.
Under full throttle, the engine and motor combine to make 208 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission sends power to the front wheels. In terms of fuel economy, the base LE Hybrid trim is the most efficient model, earning a combined 52 mpg. The three other trims make a combined 46 mpg.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The Toyota Camry Hybrid seats five and does so with relative ease. The rear seat has surprisingly good legroom along with ample hip room.
As for cargo capacity, the trunk space measures 15.1 cubic feet. That is about average for its class.
Safety Features
The Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 package comes standard. This package includes automatic high beams, road sign assist, and lane tracking assist. Also included is adaptive cruise control with full stop and go, lane departure alert, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available and includes rear cross-traffic braking on some trims.
Connectivity
Toyota equips the Camry Hybrid with a seven-inch touchscreen display on all but the top trim, which has a nine-inch touchscreen display. A six-speaker audio system is standard; a nine-speaker JBL audio system with navigation is available.
Bluetooth, two USB ports, satellite radio, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are included. Connected services and a wireless charging pad are available.
Camry Hybrid LE – MSRP From $28,360
Paralleling the base LE gas model, the LE Hybrid comes generously equipped. This trim features bi-LED combination headlights, keyless entry with push-button start, and the Toyota Safety Sense package. Other features include cloth seats, dual-zone climate control, a seven-inch touch-screen display, a six-speaker audio system, and smartphone compatibility.
Camry Hybrid SE – MSRP From $29,895
Building on the base LE Hybrid, the SE Hybrid features sporty touches, including a sport-tuned suspension system. Blacked-out touches on the mesh grille and rocker panels as well as 18-inch black machined-finished alloy wheels are other points of distinction. Imitation leather front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat are other features of note.
The Nightshade Package ($700) upgrades some of the blacked-out touches, including special black-painted alloy wheels, black side mirror caps, door handles, and a shark fin antenna, and special CAMRY lettering. Toyota upgrades the instrument panel display to seven inches.
Camry Hybrid XLE – MSRP From $33,250
For about $3,300 more than the SE Hybrid, the XLE Hybrid maximizes the available features in this trim. Special dark-gray metallic 18-inch alloy wheels dress the exterior. Inside, the seats are wrapped in leather.
Heated and power-controlled front seats with available ventilation and dual-zone climate control with rear vents are among the cabin upgrades. The rest of the improved features include a nine-inch touchscreen display, a Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging pad, and an available nine-speaker JBL audio system with navigation.
Camry Hybrid XSE – MSRP From $33,800
The XSE Hybrid is just $550 more than the XLE Hybrid. This trim takes a sporty direction, beginning with special 19-inch gloss black wheels and capping with a single exhaust with dual chrome tips. Optionally, a two-tone Midnight Black Metallic Roof and rear spoiler can be had.
