Cadillac was supposed to come out with a refreshed XT4 for the 2022 model year, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, that has been pushed back for 2023. While we expect the 2023 Cadillac XT4 to arrive with a refresh, we’re not sure what kind of small changes Cadillac will make to the compact SUV.
The XT4 arrived as an all-new vehicle in 2019 and hasn’t received any major changes to its design since. The current SUV has elongated headlights with a portion that nearly spans the full height of the nose, a wide shield grille, and boomerang-style taillights. For the redesign, the XT4 could get a new look to better match the XT6 and Escalade. We could see the XT4 arrive with slimmer, more rectangular front headlights and vertically oriented daytime running lights that are lower on the front fascia. The front bumper could gain more prominent lines to better match Cadillac’s larger vehicles. At the back, the taillights could grow much smaller in size and start just under the rear window instead of at the top of the roofline.
Things on the inside of the 2023 XT4 are expected to mostly stay the same compared to current models on sale. We expect the center console to be updated to have a new layout for the infotainment buttons and for the dashboard to be slightly refreshed. Like Cadillac’s larger SUVs, we expect the XT4 to become available with a digital instrument cluster for the 2023 model year.
We don’t think the redesign for the 2023 model year will see the XT4 receive any more tech features. The current SUV comes with a standard eight-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and seven audio speakers. Available tech features include a 13-speaker Bose audio system, navigation, and a wireless charging pad. These features should remain the same for the 2023 Cadillac XT4.
Cadillac currently offers the XT4 with a standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The motor is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox available for the engine. The XT4 comes with front-wheel drive and is available with all-wheel drive. We expect this engine to continue to be the only one available for the 2023 XT4.
The 2023 XT4 should arrive with more standard safety features. The current model comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, rear parking sensors, and a Teen Driver system as standard. Available features include lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane change alert, a surround-view parking camera, front parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, and parallel park assist.
