The Cadillac XT5 is a midsized luxury crossover that represents one of the best-selling vehicles for the brand. We expect a refresh for 2023 before production supposedly ends in 2024.
We aren’t sure what a refreshed XT5 would look like, but we don’t expect a radical change from what we are currently seeing if production is supposed to end in 2024. Currently, it’s got a dated style inside and out compared to almost all rivals, as it is actually based on the old SRX that came out in 2010. Ultimately, the XT5 looks and feels like an also-ran in what is probably the most competitive category in the automotive industry, so any major refresh or replacement is overdue at this point.
The XT5 is currently equipped with two engine options. Base models get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that manages 235 horsepower and 24 mpg (combined). A more powerful 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower is available as well as standard on the Sport trim level and is an option on the Premium Luxury trim. The XT5 comes standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is optional on all trims except the Sport where it is standard.
The XT5 comes standard with a good number of active safety features including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, and an indicator that tells you if you’re following the car in front of you too closely. Higher-end models also get rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring, while adaptive cruise, a surround-view camera, and a head-up display are all options.
