What's New
Beyond gaining some new wheel designs and paint colors, the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro enters the new model year without any major changes. The current generation belongs to the sixth-gen model that was introduced in 2016. With Ford introducing a fully redesigned Mustang for 2024, we expect to see a fully redesigned Camaro in the near future.
Choosing Your Chevrolet Camaro
The Camaro has an extensive lineup with a wide range of configurations. The Camaro is offered in a coupe and convertible body styles. The coupe is available in eight trims, while the convertible is available in seven. Then, you also have to choose between four engines, automatic or manual transmissions, and a few performance-oriented packages. There are plenty of options to comb through with the Camaro.
Prices for the 2023 Camaro 1LS coupe start at $27,495 and go up to $69,695 (with the gas guzzler tax and destination fee) for the ZL1. Pricing for the Camaro convertible ranges from $33,995 to $75,695.
Engine Choices
As a sports car, there’s really no bad engine in the Camaro’s lineup. Things certainly ramp up the higher up the food chain you go and Chevrolet’s powertrain lineup for the Camaro is comprehensive with the sports car being offered with a four-cylinder engine, a V6, and two V8s. Obviously, fuel economy takes a hit when you move up to one of the higher engines.
The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine in the ZL1 is one of the more powerful engines available in an American sports car and provides the Camaro with an incredible amount of thrust. For most people, the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine has plenty of grunt and isn’t too far off the V6 on the fuel economy front. We prefer the available V6 engine to the base four-cylinder and it’s not a ridiculous upgrade, costing just under $1,600.
Engine Type | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Economy (Combined) |

Passenger and Cargo Capacity
You’ll find four seats in the Camaro, but the rear seats are only usable by tiny children. The rear seats are better off for being used as extra storage. The Camaro coupe offers up to 9.1 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk, while the convertible has 7.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
Safety Features
The 2023 Camaro doesn’t come with any advanced driver-assist safety features as standard equipment. The sports car comes with eight airbags, traction control, stability control, and Chevrolet’s Teen Driver system as standard.
Shoppers looking to get forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and rear parking sensors will have to move up to the 3LT trim. These features are dropped on the LT1 and 1SS but return as standard on the 2SS and above.
Connectivity
Similar to safety features, consumers wanting the best in tech features will have to move up to a higher trim level. Lower models come with a 7-inch touchscreen with Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system. Standard features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, six audio speakers, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six audio speakers, and voice recognition.
An 8-inch touchscreen, a Bose audio system, and a wireless charging pad become standard on the 3LT trim. Navigation is available starting with the 3LT trim.

Compare Camaro Trims Side-By-Side
With Chevrolet only offering the Camaro 3LT with advanced safety features as standard equipment, that’s the trim we recommend. It isn’t available with the V8 engine, but the V6 should have enough power for most. For shoppers yearning for a V8, the 2SS stands out as the best choice thanks to its list of equipment that matches the 3LT’s.
