Model Preview

The Genesis GV70 is an all-new compact SUV that debuted in the 2022 model year. Entering just its second model year, we expect the 2023 Genesis GV70 to be a carryover model. While Genesis is reportedly planning a GV70 EV for 2023 or 2024, range details for the electric SUV have not yet been released.

The current Genesis GV70’s body carries many distinct cues the larger GV80 boasts, including the signature crest grille and twin-lined quad lamps. The key differences between the GV70 and GV80, other than the obvious size differences, are the GV70’s sportier treatments. These include its more rounded backside, longer hood, set-back cabin, more prominent shoulders, and more. We expect this sharp design to remain unchanged in the 2023 GV70.

Inside, the GV80 cues continue with the GV70 boasting Genesis’ signature and quirky two-spoke steering wheel, thin wing-like dash, and clean setup. The current GV70 boasts light metallic accents, available faux suede, carbon-fiber panels, and more. We expect this cabin to remain the same in the 2023 GV70.

On the tech side, the current GV70 includes a standard 14.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, and more. On the 3.5T Sport Prestige, the GV70 comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. We expect the 2023 GV70 to include the same features as the current model.

Powering today’s GV70 is a standard 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that pumps out 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, buyers can add a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that injects 375 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque. Both engines mate with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. We expect the powertrain options to remain the same in the 2023 GV70.

Safety gear on the current GV70 includes automatic emergency braking, lane changing assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and more. Optionally, buyers can add Highway Driving Assistant 2, which is a semi-autonomous driving system. The IIHS has yet to crash-test the GV70, but we expect the 2023 GV70 to have all the same safety gear.

Pricing & Release Date

There is no official on-sale date for the 2023 Genesis GV70, but stay tuned for updates. It remains unclear if an electrified GV70 will launch as a 2023 or 2024 model. Separately, the brand will introduce a smaller EV called the GV60.

We expect the 2023 Genesis GV80’s pricing to remain close to the current model, which runs from $42.045 to $63,545 (destination fees included).

This small luxury SUV will battle the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Glass, BMW X3, and Audi Q5.
