Model Preview

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is likely to be a carryover from the 2022 model year. This unique-looking Jeep with a pickup truck bed came out in 2020 and has remained mostly the same ever since. Since it is still a relatively new model, it’s unsurprising that it hasn’t been redesigned yet, though Automotive News is speculating that a redesign could be in store for the 2027 model year.

There were some minor changes to Jeep’s truck last year, which included a new cabin filter, new silver paint color. The Gladiator comes in five trims: the Sport, Sport S, Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave. The cabin seats five passengers and the truck bed is five feet. The infotainment system has a seven-inch Uconnect touchscreen, eight speakers, satellite radio with USB ports, and smartphone mirroring as standard. If you upgrade trims you can get a larger touchscreen, more speakers, and navigation.

Jeep gives the Gladiator two engine choices: a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. The 3.6-liter V6 is paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission and gives an output of 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with an eight-speed automatic transmission gives 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. The turbodiesel has an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined compared to the 3.6-liter’s estimated 21 mpg city and 27 highway.

Jeep has also equipped the current Gladiator with safety features that are expected to carry over such as electronic roll mitigation and trailer sway, 110 mph maximum speed calibration, front and side airbags, and hill start assist. If you upgrade to one of the two available safety packages, you could also get adaptive cruise control, cross path detection, and more.

Pricing & Release Date

Jeep hasn’t announced a release date for the 2023 Gladiator, but it will likely be out by the end of the year. If it is indeed a carryover model, then pricing should remain the same as the current model’s MSRP of $36,910. Possible competitors for the Gladiator include the likes of the Chevy Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Ford F-150, Honda Ridgeline, and Toyota Tundra.
