Model Preview

After debuting as all-new vehicles just last year, the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer receive some large changes. The new model year sees the extra-large SUVs gain new trims and new engines to better compete with competitors that have long-wheelbase options. Beyond the addition of new L configurations, the 2023 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer remain the same.

While the 2023 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will continue to have the same exterior design as current models on sale, there are new long-wheelbase L trims that have wheelbases that are seven inches longer than the regular models. The increase in wheelbase results in an extra foot of length. There’s a new Carbide package that’s available on Wagoneer models. It brings a blacked-out look with black wheels, exterior trim pieces, black seats, and special trim on the dashboard.

The 2023 Wagoneer models aren’t expected to arrive with any changes for the new model year. The SUVs will continue to feature an upscale design and boast a generous amount of space across three rows of seating. The Wagoneer models have a dashboard that follows the shape of a V and a center console that features a large number of buttons. With approximately 75 inches of total screens, the 2023 Wagoneer models will continue to combine luxury with technology for an upscale feel. The elongated Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L models bring up to 130.9 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the regular Wagoneer model's 116.7 cubic feet of total cargo space figure.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Interior

The 2023 Wagoneer comes with an impressive array of interior tech. Standard are a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, eight USB ports, nine audio speakers, and a wireless charging pad. Available features include a 10.3-inch passenger-side touchscreen, two rear 10.1-inch display, and a 19-speaker audio system. The Grand Wagoneer models will be available with even more high-tech features that include a 12-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch display in the second-row console, and a 23-speaker McIntosh audio system.

Under the hood, the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models get a new engine. The Wagoneer and Wagoneer L come with a new twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder Hurricane engine that makes 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7-liter V8 engine has been discontinued. The Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L trims get the same turbocharged six-cylinder engine, but it’s tuned to produce 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Both models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive will be available.

As expected from a vehicle occupying this market segment, the 2023 Wagoneer offers a plethora of safety features. Automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring are currently standard. Available features include traffic sign recognition, a head-up display, a driver drowsiness monitor, a surround-view parking camera, and hands-free parking assist.

Pricing & Release Date

Following its summer 2022 release, pricing for the 2023 Wagoneer family mirrors the 2022 model, but with a few changes. The base Series I Wagoneer still carries a price tag of $60,995. The range-leading Series III model comes in at $73,220, which actually down from last year's figure, but we are still awaiting pricing for an even higher trim Series III Carbide model.

Prices also remain the more or less same in Grand Wagoneer territory, with the base model still starting at $89,995. However, the new top-of-the-range Obsidian trim will cost you a whopping $110,640.

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will compete against the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX, and Nissan Armada.
