The 2023 Lexus UX is expected to arrive with few changes ahead of a modest update expected next year. Released for 2019, the UX is a subcompact premium SUV that was last available for 2022 as the gasoline-only UX 200 and the gas-electric hybrid UX 250h. For the 2023 model, Lexus is dropping the gas-only option to come in line with Lexus' Electrified Plan.
The 2023 Lexus UX 250h is continuing with the same hybrid powertrain it's had since its introduction, the current UX 250h comes with a total system output of 181 horsepower from the 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, and all-wheel drive is standard. The UX uses a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
The UX is available as a base model, the F Sport trim with a firmer suspension, larger wheels and tires and revised exterior and interior trim, and the high-content Luxury trim level.
All models come equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, six USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The 2023 UX gains a Lexus Interface multimedia system and a larger 8-inch touchscreen, while a 12.3-inch screen is optional. Improved cabin usability comes courtesy of newly optimized shapes and switch layout for the instrument and console area, a larger wireless charging space with lighting for enhanced visibility, and two additional USB charging ports added in the front of the console. These features are now standard, and the intuitive touchscreen can now be controlled with voice activation through simple phrases like "Hey Lexus."
In crash testing and crash avoidance evaluation, the 2022 UX received a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the agency's second-highest score. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Lexus UX a five-star rating, its highest score. Expect the 2023 UX to receive the same ratings.
The 2023 Lexus US now comes standard with the Lexus Safety System + 2.5 which features more advanced pre-collision preventative safety technology. Standard driver assistance features on all UX models include automatic emergency braking, automatic high beam assist, lane-departure warning with active assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
