Model Preview
The 2023 MINI Clubman is the station wagon version of the standard MINI Hardtop and rides on an elongated version of the platform shared between them. The 2023 Clubman is offered as a carryover model, with the only change from 2022 being the addition of the Untold Edition.
The Clubman is only available in two trims, the Cooper S and the John Cooper Works. With the absence of a standard Cooper, the sporty Cooper S trim acts as the de facto base model. It is powered by the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that powers the other MINI Cooper S models. It develops 189 horsepower, and can be paired to either a six-speed manual transmission, or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard for the S, but all-wheel drive is optional (MINI calls it ALL4).
The John Cooper Works is the Clubman’s even sportier offering. The JCW is powered by a 302 hp turbo four, and is only offered with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It also features stiffer more handling-oriented suspension, albeit at the sacrifice of some ride quality.
In the interior, the Clubman features the same retro-futuristic design languages that graces the rest of the MINI lineup. Premium materials are plentiful as well. The Clubman is roomier than the standard Hardtop, but not as spacious as a larger station wagon. It also features dual doors for the cargo area, but that’s mostly for style purposes.
A 6.5” infotainment screen is standard, along with Bluetooth. The 8.8” touchscreen is an optional extra, along with navigation and Apple CarPlay.
The 2023 MINI Clubman is available now. It competes with the Subaru Outback and the Volvo V60.
